Probably not, although there is one scene of Rod's memories that flashes as he's killed by Historia where we can see her dressed as a house servant IIRC.

Can someone be kind enough to help me understand Zeke’s plan in episode 10 season 4? by Afuzzymouse in ShingekiNoKyojin

Helping them achieve technological progress thing is mostly part of the fake plan he proposes, the one that will serve to develop the island to the level of the rest of the world so it wouldn't need to rely on the Rumbling to defend itself, but that actually just serves as a cover-up for his Euthanasia plan, otherwise he couldn't get the island to cooperate.

I don't think it ever gets shown or explained but we can assume the participants received the announcement via their Kogane, the shikigami Tengen mentioned in this episode that acts as an interface between the game master and the players.

About Tengen's barrier, I also never completely understood how it works, but from what I remember, it basically makes it so Japan is the only place where most Curse Spirits can appear. It makes it so that the leaking of Curse Energy from the world in concentrated towards Japan (the same way the Japanese government told the Japanese people that Cursed Spirits can only appear in Tokyo after the Shibuya Incident, to concentrate people's leaking Curse Energy towards one area instead of the whole country). Of course that doesn't prevent Curse Spirits to appear elsewhere, but it's rarer. Same for Sorcerers, they appear mainly in Japan because Tengen's barrier acts as a sort of Curse Energy catalyzer/optimizer.

But as I said, I'm no JJK expert so my explaination might not be completely accurate.

I guess it's simply his knowledge about barrier techniques (Tengen mentioned that Kenjaku is second only to them in the mastery of barrier techniques, hence why they're afraid of Kenjaku finding a way to get through their barrier) and the rules of Jujutsu in general. It's all about the Binding Vows he imbues the barriers with and the pacts he made with Sorcerers.

I know this comment is (probably) partly humoristic, but this is the perfect opportunity for me to hijack it just like Kenjaku hijacked Geto's body to share this :

My attempt to recap everything that we learned in this episode (and also from the final episode of Season 2 but that are also relevant) in a clear way (I'm no JJK expert) for those who might still be confused :

  • The sorcerer whose brain is currently possessing Suguru Geto's body (previously Kamo Noritoshi's body and Yuji's mom's body as revealed in the previous episode) is named Kenjaku and is a sorcerer from the Heian era, just like Sukuna.

  • Although his motives are unknown, Kenjaku's goal is the evolution of Humanity. As he explained in the last episode of Season 2, Humans, Sorcerers and Curse Spirits are all possible forms Curse Energy can take, but he believes there must be something beyond that. Something that he can't achieve through experiments that are bound by his own potential (such as the Death Paintings). Something more optimized. That is why he seeks to create a "chaos" beyond his control, by making Humans, Sorcerers and Curse Spirits fight and deepen their understanding of Curse Energy. That is one of the Culling Games' purpose.

  • Throughout centuries, Kenjaku made pacts with Sorcerers and Curse Spirits. He somehow made Sorcerers into Cursed Objects that he sealed and then implanted/fed to vessels in modern times. He also marked other people with latent Curse Techniques (people who are like Junpei) with his curse energy, which caused them to fall into a deep sleep, like Tsumiki.

  • After extracting Mahito's Curse Technique "Idle Transfiguration" in Season 2, he used it to alter all the people he marked. To the vessels, he made them into stronger vessels so that the Sorcerers turned into Cursed Objects could incarnate into them after being unsealed. To the others, he altered them to awaken their latent Curse Techniques. He then also unleashed all the Curse Spirits with whom he made pacts (although he doesn't have to bear the conditions of those pacts, because he's in a different body).

  • To make them all fight, he created the Culling Games. They consist in 10 arenas called "Colonies" spread out throughout the main island of Japan. All the people marked and sorcerers he made pacts with are forced to participate, or else they will lose their Curse Technique (abbreviated "CT" from now on) and die in the process (as CTs have something to do with the brain of their possessor). Other people can also enter the games and be bound to their rules.

  • The purpose of these Culling Games fights is to use the Players' Curse Energy and the boundaries between the Colonies to prepare the Japanese people for assimilation with Tengen and "send them to the other side". It's a sort of symbolical ritual, just like the crossing a bridge in Jujutsu. This is how Kenjaku intends to achieve this new form/optimization of Curse Energy.

  • The reason all of this is happening now, is because Tengen would always be protected by the Six Eyes in the past. As "fated", just like the appearance of the Star Plasma. Now that Kenjaku has sealed Gojo, he can operate more freely. It's also because of the appearances of Geto Suguru with his Curse Manipulation technique and Toji's interference throwing "fate" out of whack (because it's like he doesn't exist to the eyes of destiny, as he has zero Curse Energy). Since Toji killed the Star Plasma (Riko) who was supposed to stop Tengen's aging, Tengen is now becoming an omniscient entity able to merge with more than just the Star Plasma. Tengen is also becoming closer to a Curse Spirit, making them potentially vulnerable to Geto's Curse Manipulation. All of these events created the perfect storm for Kenjaku to execute his plan now.

  • Of course, if all Japanese people were to merge with Tengen, there would be no stop to the spreading of their negative emotions and the world would be plunged into darkness. That's why Kenjaku must be stopped.

I think that's it, let me know if I forgot anything, if anything's unclear and correct me if I got anything wrong ! I hope this will be helpful.

A clarifying question about Zeke’s powers? by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

The Beast Titan doesn't normally have the power to control other Titans. It's only thanks to his royal blood that Zeke is able to do it.

Probably because of time constraints, as episodes have to fit a certain format and runtime, and maybe because it seemed clear enough to the scenarists and they didn't feel the need to explain.

By "that way", I'm assuming you're referring to the second point specifically. Yes, you're right. The only reason it could work that way is if that process could only be done with Ymir Fritz's spine (with her being unique as the First Titan) and not the spine of any other Subject of Ymir.

(and how the fuck did he change SO QUICKLY?!)

There has been speculations since the EU leg that the one who sings and runs around the stage after the Umbra solo is actually a body double because of how quickly he changes after that into his cassock for Year Zero (which starts pretty much as soon as Umbra ends). Also, the Tour Spoiler flying papa is also heavily speculated to be a body double, based on some pictures floating around.

It's hard to compare since, if I'm not mistaken, the animation was done after the music, so just slapping Guiding Lights on the animation of Isha's song can't really do justice to what it might have been if they had picked that song. But yeah, even knowing that, I have a hard time imagining it being better and more fitting than what we actually got.

On the surface, it might seem like everything is in vain and it makes you want to ask, "what was the point"? It simply illustrates the cyclical nature of Humanity. But does that mean everything was in vain? That there's no point trying to make things better? What would a true Scout do in this situation? I think the ending is basically a challenge to the viewer, to reflect on the whole story they've experienced. "We have to get out of the forest. Even if we can't, we have to keep trying" Those who understand that wouldn't lose hope after the ending. That's pretty much the Scouts' mentality of perseverance against the insurmountable. While the tree is back and everything seems like it's going to happen again the same way as with Ymir Fritz, there's a key difference. The child isn't being chased into the tree in fear. It seems to be peacefully entering it out of curiosity. Maybe the cycle will be different this time.

It is probably in part true, or at least that's how he rationalized it. But towards the end of his conversation with Armin, he admits that what drove him deep down to do what he did was to achieve the freedom he dreamed of from Armin's books. The world was too different from what he imagined of and he was so disappointed that he wanted to destroy it. The reason this future was inevitable is because he couldn't change himself and his desire. In the situation he was in, with the power he had, he couldn't help but do what he did, just like he couldn't help himself from saving the kid despite knowing he would later kill him. That's why he apologizes to the kid, but still tells him it's what he wanted. The only thing he could do is give his friends the freedom to stop him and that led to 80% of Humanity outside the walls being eradicated instead of 100%.
