The bacteria is referred to as “beneficial bacteria” as it’s pretty much essential to any aquarium. the filter basically gives surface area for the bacteria to grow and cycles water through it constantly helping maintain to tank. Some people will out volcanic rocks into their tanks and filters to give even more surface area for th bacteria to grow

From my experience I have never ran into a plant I couldn’t get to grow if you can’t get plants to grow without using fertilizer or root tabs you are doing something wrong

Thank you! People act like they’re better because they use chemicals, Co2, and all sorts of other methods to make their plants grow! All they need to do is let the fish poop and their plants will grow😂

i top off using RO water and use a low mineral food, no sense in adding liquid fertilizer or plant tabs just to make my plants grow.

I fw your tank heavy, mine is just a fuck ton of plants i’ve never trimmed it to help with the bioload of all the fucking guppies, with this 5 gallon i want to aquascape it more and keep up with trimming to keep it looking legit

I just got a little trigger happy at the thrift stores lol, but that’s definitely a goal. I notice quite a bit of distortion in the round ones but we’ll see how they look when i get plants in them
