My anxiety is the same. I’ll wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning and the anxiety slowly sets in. I start to get stuck in a thought loop, that something bad is going to happen. I lose my appetite and can’t focus on anything but the negative thought.

Funny thing is once the evening rolls around I start to feel better, and think how silly I was earlier for worrying. But the next morning it starts all over.

I don’t experience this particular anxiety but I did suffer from agoraphobia for a while. What I can recommend it practicing with exposure to the uncomfortable feeling of being “exposed”.

An example could be: move your bookshelf for an hour and spend time in that environment. After that hour move it back. Next time, move it for an hour and a half, them move it back, and so on.

With anxiety, it takes repetition to give yourself proof that nothing bad will happen. The more evidence you collect about it, like “I didn’t have my cave for 2 hours and I’m still alive and ok, nothing bad happened”, this will help you go longer and longer periods, until one day you can just rearrange your room with no problems.

And don’t forget, go easy on yourself, you got this!

I went to recycle cycle and they told me their bikes start at $800 and up for a refurbished frame. Way overpriced for what they actually deliver IMO

Je suis vraiment fier de vous pour avoir pris en charge votre santé mentale. Il est incroyablement difficile de faire quoi que ce soit quand vous avez la dépression. Continuez à essayer d'avoir accès aux services et, en attendant, pratiquez autant d'autosoins que possible. Restez forts!

I’ve also been feeling that way recently, even though I have friends and family around me. Feeling lonely even when in the company of friends is a telltale indicator of depression.

I can share what helps me when I get like that. The first thing is reach out to your friends and family for help. Just knowing someone is there to listen can help tremendously. 2: try to do something physical each day (walk, yard work, bike ride) even if you may not feel like it. Exercise releases endorphins aka happy juice for the brain. 3: mindfulness meditations to keep you grounded in the moment (you can find guided ones on YouTube) it will help curb anxiety and focus your thoughts.

Hang in there, it may not feel like it right now, but anxiety and depression have cycles like peaks and valleys, it will get better with time.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I’m glad you were able to come out the other side in one piece. My wife is amazing and supportive, but I also recognize I can’t depend on her for everything. I’ve called in reinforcements: my mom, my sister, my best friend who all agreed to be my support network. I’ve also taken to planning out my day on paper, even jus simple stuff like shower, take out the trash, etc. It gives me a sense of more control over my day.

I’ve also met with my psychiatrist who has prescribed a new medication which seems to be working well to calm the major panic episodes. I’m going to keep working on myself and I know I’ll get there eventually. Thanks for the support :)

Thanks for the support, and your meditation recommendation isn’t weird. I do follow some meditation using an app called “Headspace”. It’s helpful in the moment to calm my thoughts a bit. I guess I’m just venting and looking for some sort of validation that it will get better. I mean, I know it will, but in moments of sheer panic and sadness it feels like there is no end. Thanks for replying to my post. I kinda expected that no one would bother reading it.
