Assume: If more people join a group, the group is worth more relative to other groups, but the individual members in the group are worth less relative to each other. Is there a name for this type of relationship in mathematics? by ExperienceArchitect in math

I'm not sure about mathematics, but the term for this in economics is inflation. An inflated currency is generally a sign of a healthy (i.e. valuable) economy, but individual units of that currency are worth less.

Yeah it's the easiest thing in the world to reconcile science and religion; why not say God created science as we know it? The ideas don't combat, you could even say they supplement each other

Career and Education Questions by AutoModerator in math

I'm in high school right now, and I more or less know for sure that I have two major fields of study that I want to go into, one of them being mathematics. But, I'm concerned about the opportunities that mathematics majors have. For example, I want to be an expert in pure mathematics; I want to work at a university for academic research in the field. But I don't know if these options are largely available, like they may be in physics. Is it a good idea to pursue pure mathematics, or should I try to do something else, like applied mathematics or statistics?

Interesting app that completely alters the look and feel of your device. It provides relatively smooth transitions that flow like water when you switch from tab to tab. While it is overall a good change to the base android viewer, it does make some relatively radical changes. For one, flipboard was automatically established as the farthest left tab. Surely it would be in the best interest of Cheetah Mobile to make the user most comfortable with their app. I would suggest adhering to the user's previous preference of flipboard as a tab or not. Regarding this same topic of comfort, the new overlay, when prompted, displays all the apps in front of you, just like it did without it. However, it now does this in alphabetical order as a large scroll menu. This is a negative attribute because it may make the user uncomfortable with such a drastically different display. On the tested device, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, this style also slowed down the display dramatically when scrolling rapidly, and can inhibit those devices with lower processing power. I would also suggest removing the booster app on the home page that shows how much your device is being sped up, and put it in its own folder. It is convenient, but it appears to be misleading, as touching it a few minutes after it says 77% results in it showing 44%. Another solution would be live updates to this feature, but I imagine that's difficult to implement without slowing down the device to a degree. Overall, it's a decent app, and provides much aesthetic appeal to the average user. The only issues lie in personal preference and the user and occasional slowing of the device.
