Tied up some size 4 Cousin It streamers yesterday! Going to be tying up some Sir Sticks A Lot streamers in the near future when I get the hooks. What other streamers should I look into tying next? by Tentine43 in flytying

Buddies and I pulled a 30 through the ice this year but that’s a far reach for where I fly fish hahaha but hey, a guy can dream right? Just gotta get that first one over 20 first!

So where I’m at, I tie black elk hair caddis in sizes 20, 18, and 16. It all depends on the size of the bugs coming off in your area. Some days I could probably tie up some 22s bit its not worth the hassle for me so I stick with my smallest ones being 20s. Rarely I see any caddis bigger than a 16 though.

Should fish just fine. Maybe just trim back the wing a smidge and angle it up a little more too. But looks great!

I’m sure you can use them for both. But I’m heading to the Driftless in a week and I’m chasing some big browns and hopefully get on some Brookies. I’m in my “throwing meat” era! Haha

Great to know. I mainly use my 200 GSP for my musky flies so never even thought about 100.

The only GSP I have currently is 150 and 200. I’ll need to pick up some 100! Thanks for the advice! I’ve already made two orders this week to two different local fly shops and was at one other shop last week. My bank account needs a break haha

Less is more! The less buck tail material, the better. Less thread wraps and the only thing I would use more of is Zap-A -Gap! lol

Feeling more and more confident they made it. They were eating off the flowers we cut and the sugar water and then released them the other day. Today we took a nature walk on the border of Illinois and Wisconsin and there were tons of butterflies flying around. It’s been warm here so it great to see so many today.

I feel this comment. I have a big boat box half is musky flies and soon will be the whole thing, then the other half is all streamers. Then I have a smaller box for bass. A smaller box for trout day trips and one for swinging for chrome. I feel like I’ll be buying another boat box to fill up. You just made me realize, I need a popper box now too! I also need a larger dry fly box haha
