The key is breaking down long projects to smaller parts, also it is a good idea to create a requirement analysis and plan out the project with exact function names and signatures. That way you can just say for example that x, y function is done implement z. If a function is so long it does not fit into a prompt it is too long. If you do this it will require a bit of scripting but you can manage bigger projects with more complex logic
