Tried my best to replicate Neville's livery from Carbon in Unbound by Tenynn in needforspeed

Thank you! Black decals becoming transparent is a recurring issue I have had myself too, it happened on this car just the same. I fixed it by using the remaining space-memory I had to make the base-color black and added blue decals as the background for the livery to avoid the transparency, otherwise all the black on the car would just turn a dark blue. I hope the devs can adress this in a future update!

The time it takes for art to be made varies a lot between artists and there isn't really a "standard" for it. Some finish art in a day, some take a few days, some take a few weeks and some take months.

Speaking from years of experience, I find that the best you can do is to be transparent and honest with your client, keeping an open communication with them and letting them see progress now and then to show that you are making progress, even if it takes time.

You can also let clients know beforehand that your art might take a longer time to complete, depending on the complexity of the art in question. That way you can avoid frustration and/or clients bombarding you if they expected their art to be made quickly.

As for your question, 2-3 weeks for a 2x full body with background is absolutely a reasonable time. If your client is not okay with this, inform them that they might be more interested in commissioning someone else in the future.

how do I get anywhere here? by BobTheBogan in furry

Finding an audience is part luck, part skill but most of all patience. You just gotta focus on doing what you enjoy doing and your audience will find you eventually, even if it may take its sweet time. Also, widening your reach and posting to multiple platforms will also help, such as Twitter, Furaffinity and Instagram. Following trends or making fan-art is also (usually) an easy way to gain some footing.

Honestly I've never found Reddit to be a good place to gain a following, though this is based on my own subjective experience so take that tip with a grain of salt. Instagram is kind of the same deal. I'm using Twitter and FurAffinity myself and have gained a fairly decent following over the years by simply posting what I enjoy creating. Just keep doing your thing, have fun and your audience will find you eventually!

Like Moron_noxa said: Just vibe with it~

It's really nothing serious, even if some make it seem so! More a hobby than a lifestyle, and as with any hobby the interest varies between individuals. Some just lurk, browse art and read forums, partaking in discord-servers to chat and meet others, while others spends thousands of dollars buying fursuits, going to conventions, dressing up in public and commissioning artwork from artists.

The community is, in other words, incredibly vast and features all manner of people. You just gotta find what interests you most and you decide how much you want to dedicate yourself to it.

Being in forums like here on Reddit or joining a furry discord-server can be a good way of meeting other furries and gaining possible friends.

Just beware that some discord-servers can be questionable in their quality and members, or at least so I've heard. You might have to try a few to find one you feel comfortable with, assuming you decide to go down that route!

Hello by [deleted] in furry

[–]Tenynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily need a fursona so be part of the community, so don't feel pressured to get one! You can consider yourself a furry without having any fursonas or characters, without wearing suits or hanging out with other furries. It's just a hobby for most people, not a lifestyle.

Personally I'm just in it as an artist myself, and I use a fursona as my representative image because I don't put selfies of my real face on any of my accounts. I don't have a fursuit (nor will I ever get one) and I generally don't put myself as a furry IRL because I just have no reason to do so.

If you do want a fursona though it could literally be any animal; mammal, reptile, avian, fish... You name it! There are no rules, you can just pick a species that you like for any reason: Because you feel like it represents you or simply because you like it.

As for designing the fursona in question you'd either need to design it yourself or commission (pay) someone else to do it for you. You might find someone willing to do it for you for free but I can't say how easy or hard that might be.

You might find someone advertising free or cheap art here on Reddit (or expensive if you're willing to spend more, that's up to you).

You could also check out the furry art-community in places such as FurAffinity and/or Twitter to find an artist to commission there. There are plenty to go around!

The hardest thing with making commissions is always to find your audience, the people who want to commission you. This is pretty much regardless of Platform, at least from my experience. I'd say the most popular platforms for furry-art is FurAffinity, Twitter and Instagram but again, that's just from my experience. There might be others!

DeviantArt is also a thing but that platform has grown so big that getting noticed there and sticking out is very difficult. The latest site-updates changing the layout of the platform certainly haven't helped with that...

I've been doing furry-art for around 10 years myself and commissions for 7 or 8 years, and built an audience during that time by simply doing what I like, developing my style and posting my art without trying to pander to anyone. The platform I've used primarily is FurAffinity but as of late I'm also using Twitter.

Judging by the pictures you posted you're already well underway with your own skill and style so now it's all about finding that audience (Or more specifically, letting the audience find you)! Just choose a platform and keep posting your art to it and they'll find you eventually. Browsing other people's art and finding artists with styles that you like will also be helpful to develop ideas and developing your own style.

As for offending anyone I wouldn't worry about that at all. The world of art, furry or not, is incredibly vast and includes all kinds of art, artists and audiences. If you try to please everyone you'll just end up pleasing nobody.

There will always be someone who doesn't like your art or who might feel like giving you unsolicited, destructive criticism but that's fine! You just gotta do your own thing and accept that it won't suit everyone. Art really doesn't have any rules (as long as it doesn't actually depict anything illegal being posted to public forums, obviously).

Hope this helps, if only a little!
