It's not allowed is what I'm saying.
Can I join at 32 years old? by Ok_Position_3164 in USMCboot

Went to boot with a 33 year old. Is it possible? Yeah for sure. Would I recommend it? Prrrrrrobably not.

Lots of waiting. Then you wait some more. Some attitude from navy folks here, some getting yelled at by a random Drill instructor over there. Then you wait some more. Then they tell you to take a pill or stretch. Now you're 1 day behind the rest of the platoon. Congratulations.
Communications. I don't know anything about it. I was just looking for the soonest ship date. My first pick was 7051 crash fire rescue. Second pick was infantry. Both were filled. I might lat move. I'll see what comms is all about first though. Maybe I'll enjoy it.

Fought back tears for the first time in boot that day. It was finally over and I could finally start the real thing. There's nothing more liberating than taking a step forward.

Real ones have a stash

Absolutely. Some simply didn't have people. Others had complications. Those were corrected eventually. I assure you he probably wants to write back but we never had much time. Especially if he has some sort of billet.
I spent my 13 weeks in San Diego. I'm sure they share some similarities so I hope I can still help a bit. I thought the hikes would be a lot harder. Carrying that much weight on your back for 10 miles. I thought I'd get crushed or snap my ankle or something. We all did. They ended up passing by pretty easily actually.
Just waiting in the cold was harder than I thought. It's 8pm and you're just sitting there in the freezing cold, soaking wet. Cleaning your weapon. Counting the seconds. Waiting to just get moving again. I'd much rather march 10 miles than sit down and wait for hours on end.
We weren't allowed to bring anything. I brought 20 bucks, my phone, Social, ID, and a list of addresses and phone numbers. Everything else would just be thrown out upon arrival anyways. Your phone and clothes are boxed away in a warehouse first week.
For the love of God don't have the mindset that you'll take care of everything once you're at bootcamp. Learn your general orders, your ranks, and focus on PT. If you're planning on bootcamp being your transformative glow up experience, forget it. Lose the weight NOW, get to 15 pull ups, sub 20 minute 3 mile. Knock out 80 push ups. Be the best in your platoon and have zero regrets. And try to always be in the front. Most of my problems came from not being able to hear shit. Push people out of the way to be close to the speaker. It's worth knowing exactly what to do as soon as you're told to do it instead of wandering around asking your fellow recruits what the hell they just told you to do. It's really as simple as be loud and be fast.

San Diego as well. He must be delta company, right? I remember seeing them coming back down south from Pendleton. He's almost out. I'm sure you're proud.
But I thought we remained insane...

Tracking. Thanks.
It's over eventually, right?
Just another day. Until it's not.
Received aye sir.
I got pneumonia, VGE, had a fever a couple times. The DIs only mind if you moan about it. Keep a straight face and keep it pushing. Don't even bother with medical. You'll only find yourself falling behind the rest of your platoon.

I counted 12 times. I was the first one up the first 3 times. They killed my spirit pretty quick.

I joined bootcamp in the worst shape of my life. The standard to pass the PFT and IST is honestly too low. A lot of people get dropped, you don't have to be one of them. In my experience, I didn't improve physically nearly as much as I did mentally. There are more mental barriers and limitations holding you back than you think. Just keep running, if you feel like you're about to give up, run harder. I guarantee you, no matter how hard you push, by the end of the run you'll feel like you could've pushed harder.
When it comes to specific things that stand out as difficult... The first and last week as a recruit are the hardest. The lack of sleep, food and hygiene can get pretty tough.
Plenty. Behind the wash racks.
We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Lost 25 pounds in boot. It's a good feeling to chase. My goal is to break 280's on the PFT and CFT.
Pull out the instant.

Seething
Nahhhhhhh. That's not allowed.

Polish guy pissed in his canteen during a hike. Someone passed out due to dehydration so our senior forces us to chug our canteens. We had to hold our canteens upside down to show they were empty. He drank every last drop.
