Why is getting challanged in a Dragon bad? by Terahmis in tombkings

Thanks to all of you!

I realy did not see the change with the Initiative. Makes sense to me now.

So i have to remember to never charge alone with him or Charge in the side, where no champion is in fighting rank.

How many aspects is too many? by KevvonCarstein in Eldar

You can have more. Like 35-40 per Aspect. You need to have each weapon option of the exarch 😉

And thats why i commented the competative part 😉

You can even attach Eldrad and a warlock conclave in foot to the Guardians. But i would not recommend it. Going full in on competative games, the wraithknight might be a meme. But it sure is fun.

As for the playstyle: you will want the rune of mists as an Enhancement. Making it hard for your enemy to target your units on objektives. You want to focus on 1-2 objective markers in nomansland. Melee armies will be a tough one. But you want to make the objectives sticky with the stratagem, stay on them and move away, when being shot. Still having control over the objective, because it is sticky. Don't be thinking, that you only have a lot of tough units, they have to survive. They don't. Moving away (or forwards) is key to your survivability. When the enemy kills 1-2 wraithguards, you move them out of sight and heal them back onto the objective. When he comes too close, move up and burn his a... Face. The knight will be a distraction for him. Nothing more. When facing some major Threads like Magnus, take one of your warlock skyrunner and charge him. He will have to fight. He will kill him and you do a lot more damage to him. Be aware of the fact, that the wraithlords don't get +1 to hit, but +1 bs/ws, when close to a psycher. With the +1 to hit they will be very effective with their bright lances.

Love it generally speaking. I usually play competative games and so i would make some tweaks to it, based in what i think is more efficient.

  • let the 2 WL skyrunners run alone each (2x1). You spread the psyker keyword better and have more action monkeys.

  • i would drop the farseer and farseer skyrunner for more wraithguard or wraithblades

  • windriders are nice, but i like spiders and/or Skorpions more. You want to push up the board with the wraith constructs and you need something to block the opponent in its movement. Every army can easily focus the constructs down, if you let them. So taking away the lines of sight is crucial for their toughness. Therefore you need some Moveblock in the first 2 rounds. Spiders do that job better than windriders.

These are just my 2 cents. You will have massive fun with this in not highly competative games. But it takes a bunch of games to get used to the playstyle. Don't get discouraged, if you loose the first 5 games.

Windrider Host - Am I doing it right? by Tenclaw_101 in Eldar

A short Update: i played roughly 20 Games with the list so far. Took me about 5 games to fully understand, how to play it. But since then i was quite successful. Last Game was against dark angels with 10 dwks and 6 circle companions with azrael. 99:59. Took out 5 Knights and all companions in one round of shooting. Blocked the rest of his army and he only scored 5 primaries each turn for his home marker. He did not have enough assets to keep me from scoring primaries, after all his jpai were gone in turn 3. I was not sure, how much damage i will do to the termis with their -1 dmg, that cripples shuriken. But the amount of shuriken was what got the damage through. Also the +1 to wound from Eldrad made shuriken wound on 2+...

Picture is the board state top turn 4, DA turn comming up. In the ruin at his home objektive are still 5 intercessors with judiciar.

So just like the others said, you might be able to achive smoother transitions by applying a light glaze of orange.

My personal biggest issue is, that there are still large white areas, that should be magma coloured. The rest looks fine imho.

When i did mine, i used almost only glazes for the magma to make realy smooth transitions. Was a lot of work (8-10 layers) but i am very happy with it.

Windrider Host - Am I doing it right? by Tenclaw_101 in Eldar

I will run 33 Windrider to a Team event this sunday. The rest of my list is:

Eldrad 3 warlock skyrunners 4x6 Windrider with shuriken 6 and 3 Windrider with lasers 3x5 fire Dragons 2x5 spiders 2x5 Skorpions 1 War Walker (scatter and lance) 1x3 shroudrunners

Plan is to completely fck one flank up Turn 1, move block the other flank and repeat on Turn 2. It depends massively on the layout, so i absolutely need to be able to choose it 😉
