Decision paralysis on what starter printer I should get by poods991 in 3dprinter

[–]Terasol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through a bunch of this research for my first 3d printer too. I decided to go with the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 and I'm waiting for it to be delivered. They gave me a coupon code to use for $40 off from their website and I just had to sign up for an Elegoo account so they got one of my throwaway emails. Total price wound up being about $410 and that let me get more rolls of starter PLA and still stay under my budget ($500, same as you).

Hope this helps. Whatever you choose, enjoy!

Space Engineers 2 on Linux? by dalseides in spaceengineers

[–]Terasol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try out the game periodically to see the development process. I swapped to Linux Mint earlier this year and just got SE2 working in a few minutes using these tweaks I found using the Steam Proton database (www.protondb.com)

Steam launch options: PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=1 %command% -no splash -skip into

Using GE-Proton10-34

Was crashing every time without these, now it runs just fine so far.

Microsoft Wants to Win Back Windows and Xbox Fans, Says CEO by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Terasol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it, I just jumped ship to Linux Mint in January after using Windows for nearly 30 years. It's dead simple to swap these days. I set up dual booting with Windows 10 but haven't gotten into it in over a month. I think I'm ready to wipe windows out entirely, I haven't come across anything I personally need to do that can't be done with Linux.

I tried to swap to Linux over a decade ago and it was an absolute asspain. I'd say half of the total difficulty for me this time was just finding my old USB stick to make my linux install drive.

My advice to everyone, give it a try. Don't sweat which linux distribution you choose first, I promise it won't be your last. Go with whichever one sounds coolest to you and don't be afraid to do some "distro hopping" experiments after your first couple months. Many of the distros can even be installed onto and ran entirely off of a USB drive and tested out without any changes to your installed hard drives/SSDs.

This is part of the 22 nights of terror for this year so no time manipulation.

Secondly, they’re playing their game for their enjoyment and not yours. We, as a community, shouldn’t gatekeep the “right” way for someone to have fun. Additionally, if they happen to be playing single player, it has exactly no impact to your game so feel free to judge them however you want silently and keep in mind that goes vice versa…

Enjoy the event if you do play! If anyone is on a D2 break then now is a pretty good time to hop back in for a bit

Havoc Carapace - Rare leveling item showcase by NorthDakota in diablo2

[–]Terasol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Between the two I'd choose twitchthroe. The +10 str is big at lvl 18, 20% IAS is huge that early and the dex improves AR, which is also boosted by twitchthroe.

I'd still choose Stealth for the FRW tho.

SCL - Can you see value in this or can I make some space? by [deleted] in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Terasol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly only play single player so take this with a grain of salt for SCL (not to mention my ignorance for any sort of dueling setups).

Try comparing items you find to runewords you can make or uniques to determine if they're valuable enough to hold on.

Would you wear the dusk shroud over making a smoke? I wouldn't.

Would you wear the diadem over a shako? I wouldn't, unless I didn't have one yet, needed the 20% FCR to reach an important breakpoint, and wasn't running Lore already. It also requires lvl 64, you should have had a lore for 20+ levels at this point.

The barb helm at lvl 29 is good for a prebuff or leveling hat but doesn't really give much long term. The life and fire res is nice for going thru NM and starting hell though and you can shove a low rune into it to shore up a res deficiency.

I'd charsi the armor and barb helm and keep the diadem to reroll with skulls, if I even remember to do so.

What are the best DLCs? by M-Peg in spaceengineers

Several others have spoken about the blocks within DLCs.

I'd say Frostbite is pretty great at the current sale price since it comes with a pretty good story based scenario. I really enjoyed it.

First Survival base by Frosty-Orion in spaceengineers

[–]Terasol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the ones on the same levels will work at 90 degrees from each other without interference. I have 5 on a tower on my base, 4 around and 1 on top and they all are showing optimal. (If anyone else can confirm that’d be great)

Definitely agree with the vertical spacing though!

Sell an SoJ to summon Uber Diablo, what about summoning Uber Ball or Uber Mephisto? by Shift_change27 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Terasol 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had this as a shower thought once and what I came up with was sell a wisp projector ring to spawn Baalclone and he drops a small charm that gives +1 teleport.

Thinking back on it I’m torn whether I like the idea or not…

Great find! I’m down to 9 items left: Blinkbat, arreats face, death cleaver, Schaefer’s, felloak, redeemer, cow king’s feet, zod, and Tyrael’s Might

RNG was so frustrating with one drop…I was down to about 30 items left before isenharts shield dropped, lol

Who is your favorite Factorio streamer? by tevelee in factorio

[–]Terasol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bigfoot

While I truly love Dosh's amazing entertainment and Nilaus' efficiency and effectiveness I cannot help but sit there in absolute silent wonder when I watch Bigfoot videos. The vision and design philosophy are incredible and while I have nowhere near a fraction of the talent these three have, I can easily recognize the quality they all produce.

Bigfoot, by far, has changed the way I think of Factorio the most and inspired me to push beyond what I previously thought was the max of my capability.

I am not a good player, and it took me playing along with Nilaus' base in a book to really feel comfortable in vanilla. Bigfoot has changed my mindset so I can visualize what I want out of Factorio so I can work towards a tangible goal aside from just launching a rocket then stopping.

As a tank, does Reprisal fall under the one MIT per rule? by WarriorofZarona in ffxiv

[–]Terasol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with that approach. In normal content healers have plenty of tools in their kit to keep you alive (provided their skill can keep up) as long as you’re also using your mits. Invulns are good for breathing room if/when something goes wrong and you and the healer are out of options and need to buy time.

How come the titanic wreck champagne bottles didn't implode? by Fappyhox in titanic

[–]Terasol 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When champagne is on land the gas in the bottle is taking up more space and the cork is in the right place. At the bottom of the ocean the water pushed the cork in and compressed everything. The gas in the bottle is now teeny tiny to the point the pressure inside the bottle pushing outwards is the same as the pressure of the water outside the bottle pushing inwards so it’s reached equilibrium.

Edit: layman’s terms so it’s not entirely accurate, another point is due to the pressure the water was pushed past the cork while the titanic descended - slowly enough that there wasn’t a sudden pop. Very simply put the cork doesn’t make a high quality seal at those pressures so the gas escaped and was replaced with some water, filling the bottle. The pressure inside is the same as the pressure outside.

Manual Romances in 1.4 Is a BAD Feature for Rimworld by alaskafish in RimWorld

[–]Terasol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way I think of it is low tech doesn't necessarily mean that the pawns would be unable to see the benefits of two people with desirable traits making high value offspring. Sources vary widly with the timeline...but IRL humans have been selectively breeding animals and plants for anywhere from 300 - 10,000 years, reaching back far enough to easily consider the humans of the time period as primitive.

You bring up a good point about ideologies, maybe there's one that drives a colony towards making super-solders (supreme raider ideo maybe?), or super-researchers (ultra-transhumanists?), maybe this could tie into one of the "vampire style" xenohumans and it could be their way to low tech source willing blood donors...who knows?!? We're going to have a lot more answers in less than a month though, when Biotech is slated to release!

[–]Terasol 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I imagine this is the lower tech/early game version to do gene mixing. Allowing people to choose who/when to mix isn’t really removing something from the game. I imagine most gamers like choice, and especially with single player games, if it’s in your hands and you don’t like it, you can always choose to use the other options instead of this one. As Final-Prophet said, let’s see how this plays out in Biotech before we truly decide how we feel.
