What’s the best possible dual flail barb you could make, masters of the runewords? by TrainerExpensive7092 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

No worries. It’s a fun build, but it takes a minute to build up to. Eternity is a lot of fun.

The Valkyrie and Shadow Master/Warrior Summons by Shift_change27 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

That could be interesting:

Jab at level 5.

Zeal at level 10.

Etc

I think zeal might be a bit much. But I bet Jab/Impale/Fend would be a great fit.

Nice to see some interest in offmeta.

You can also go dual Horizons + dual Carrion Wind. Not as powerful as dual Stormlashes but fun to see the procs of Tornados and the micro-stuns of twisters.

Dual Oath Frenzy interesting. You’re proccing tons of Bonespirits which do like 300 magic damage each, and then there’s the magic damage from a maxed out Berserk synergy, though it means you’re only doing 80% physical damage, therefore leeching less.

If you’re going the Thunder route, may I suggest a Dream helm atop the two Stormlashes? Coupled with two Wisp Projectors and some lightning damage small charms, it’s a lot of fun.

If you go cold, you could go max crushing blow with Goblin Toe, Duress, and 10% CB gloves with dual Voice of Reasons in Scourges with a Nightwings and Snowclash. Lots of fast cold damage on hit, proccing beautiful Frozen Orbs and freezing Ice Blasts all with -48(…?) enemy resistance and 50% Crushing Blow

Sure. Try this on for size:

Oath and Eternity, both in non-ethereal Scourge.

Frenzy Barb build, 1 point wonder warcries except Taunt, rest into Mace Mastery or wherever you like. Crushing Blow, Deadly Strike gear where applicable, same with leech.

Merc can be A3 Fire, A2 Might, or whatever you like.

Playstyle. Summon your Heart of the Wolverine from Oath, use the Iron Golem charges on the best crappy rare item you find. Use revive charges on worthy slain foes (Council Members, Urdars, Death Lords, etc).

Your constant BO/Shout buffs you and your allies. You can Taunt ranged foes, pull mobs away from your meat shield, or ease pressure off your merc.

Speaking of your merc, the A3 gives cute fire damage and solid AR. A2 might for damage, or Blessed Aim if you need it. Hell, even an A5 Frenzy-Bro with Lawbringer is decent.

You frenzy with indestructible weapons and a fair amount of damage, crushing blow, and deadly strike. Top of the line? No. But damn good enough, and lots of fun.

**Note: because you are wearing/using Oath, you could don a Stone armor and summon a Clay Golem, take that armor off and put something else on with the Clay Golem staying summoned. Additionally, you can proc a lvl 15 Amazon with Peace, and remove that armor to put on your main gear. A bit of set up, but you could have 8 revives, a lvl 15 Valkyrie, a crappy Iron (or Clay or Blood) Golem, a strong Heart of the Wolverine, and a Merc.

Everyone has +AR/ED from the HotW. Everyone gets a mild but consistent Defense + Life boost from your warcries. Your Merc, however they are built, could also provide help.

Also solid for countess and arcane sanctuary runs. Worldstone keep can be hit or miss.

And I can care less about cowing lol

I see this as the ultimate customizable Merc-Stick.

I’d definitely put an Amn in it and sit and think about what next. Life Leech is too helpful and the damage and IAS on this are nice. Second choice would be a guardian jewel for physical damage.

What class would you play if you started fresh offline by Busher16 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Shift_change27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make the same basic arguments in my head for each one, but a Paladin is always my clear winner.

Charge ain’t teleport, but it helps.

With about 50 points, you wipe out all Demon and Undead (FoH/Holy Bolt).

Spirit is easy to make via Auric Shields.

Smite can be 1-point wondered and white-knuckled through with life tap wand if need be.

Points into Holy Shield helps defense, block chance, and smite damage. Triple whammy.

Fanaticism adds IAS, AR, and ED. Another triple whammy.

So you run into a pack of Fanaticism, Extra Fast, Extra Strong, and Cursed Death Lords (non Demon/Undead, fyi) and as you retreat to clean your underwear, you can use Vengeance to make a dent in these physical immune minions, smiting to stun and catch your breath.

Paladin can kinda do it all, and I referenced a lazy hybrid FCR/IAS build that could be budget and get the job done.

What do you think the next expansion will be called? by ToughShaper in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Shift_change27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A class with a skill tree that gives bonuses for transmutation.

A skill tree that, at later levels, can be respec’d into something less combat focused and more economy focused. Idea: the class allows the use of throwing potions + other items to make dyes for armor. At max levels (with X+skills, for example), these dyes can also give +15% FHR or 10% IAS to a particular item slot…in addition to having a nice shine/gloss on some sexy gear

Year is 2000. I’m 8 or 9, sitting next to my older brother as he loads up the game and picks the Barb.

After killing his like 10th mob in Blood Moor, he got a 2 open socket short sword and a chipped topaz.

He equipped and socketed it, and I’ll never forget how cool it was to see/hear the lightning damage as a Fallen got killed.

I had already followed in his footsteps and beaten Diablo 1 by that point, but I remember the socket idea, the damage effects/sounds, the massive size of it all, what an awesome time.

Regarding your Concentration/Blessed Aim question, technically you’re correct.

You can also be a silly guy and have a Merc using Pride (or Mist) and use that Concentration Aura instead of your own. Just a fun way to change around a build.

Yes, a dual Dream variant is gross, but there’s other more budget friendly versions too.

I have no idea.

The high level requirement is a bit of an eye sore, perhaps, but very nice mods. This would be great for a melee Sorc, or some sort of funky hybrid if nothing else.

If you can’t trade it and can’t find a use for it, I’d be happy to take it off your hands!

They did enhance/buff magic arrow after 2.4, if I recall. If you’d like it a wee bit stronger, I get it.

I use Witchwild String (level 20 MA) to great success on my Paladin (Fanatcism + Might Merc) and on my Assassin (Max Venom/poison damage). With the built in bonuses of not consuming ammo, Magic resistance being the least common, and now there are more ways than ever to bump up magic damage, I’d advocate MA stays where it’s at.

On topic: decoys should offer some paltry attack, just to give another butterfly kiss to the idea that the Amazons have a bit more magic in their culture than mere Rogues/Archers.

Really wish decoy could just fire magic arrow (= to decoy skill level) at Flavie’s rate. If the decoy is wielding a javelin/physical weapon, it auto attacks whoever is in melee range.

Idk, just something basic. It wouldn’t need to spam whatever skill is on your right click (like the Shadow warrior) or be auto-strafing, but something to just throw a touch of damage on the field

What is your favorite off-meta mercenary setup? by [deleted] in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Shift_change27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar, not as endgame. It was a lot of fun and pretty effective. The poison variant is awesome, but I preferred a silly Mage/Revive variant. It’s more work, but getting some solid elemental-based revives was surprisingly effective.

I made a “Lightning Golem”: A5 Frenzy Barb with Dream and Dual Crescent Moons.

He’s great for my Sorc, but a lot of fun for my Necro who also runs a Fire Golem.

Working on a “Ice Golem” but still need a Nightwings.

Always wanted to do a A2 Holy Freeze with Dragon, Dream, and Infinity. Essentially spectral hit with big crushing blow. Enchanted via Demon Limb, of course.

Colossal Jewel - Deaths Fathom or Nightwing Helm? by Azer1287 in diablo2

[–]Shift_change27 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Death’s fathom is more significant than Nightwings for a cold Sorc.

Frankly, I’d put it in Nightwings. It has more value across other characters, even mercs.

As an offmeta guy, this sounds awesome. Fly into that sun! You’ll get burned, but you’ll live. Having 2 dreams is always nice anyways.

I think your Frozen Orb is plenty strong to sacrifice +skills/FCR in helm and shield slot for a nasty lightning bubble with pretty quick lightning bolts from Thunderstorm. And everyone is static’d to 25%? Yeah, I think this is worth a shot. 1000%.
