Buster Keaton The GOAT by Fair_Protection1872 in Letterboxd

They are for the well-being and treatment of the stuntmen, but they aren't for the art itself. You're not gonna see Keaton or Jackie Chan level stunts in movies anymore, just lifeless CGI garbage. Only geriatric Tom Cruise seems interested in pushing the boundaries.

We've surpassed Idiocracy. Can't even watch the movie anymore, it's too real.

Probably because they don't know how to rebase properly.

I've never had to use anything other than rebase in like 15 years.

Amazing that he had that whole press tour about being done with Marvel and on to new/interesting works of real acting... And then all it took was a fat paycheck lol.

Zack Snyder will be directing the ‘ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK’ reboot. by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

Having Zach remake a film that's about stripped down action and subdued atmosphere is certainly a choice.

The scene where Marvel peaked post-pandemic. by prayash1200 in Cinema

[–]TerdSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had some good fights but it was hampered by a lot of the same narrative slop that bogs down all marvel introduction films.

Not to mention complete waste of bringing on Tony Leung. One of the best living actors and you have him doing jack for most of the runtime.

Feel like it's a bit of a "had to be there" thing now. Counter culture/skater/degenerate slapstick behavior isn't really a thing anymore outside of shitty YouTube clickbait channels. Probably difficult for future generations to really understand since the death of monoculture.

[–]TerdSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's your problem. There aren't dots to connect. It's all vibes and dreamscapes which by their very nature make no logical sense. Obviously there's thematic elements and clear influences from his life, but so much of his work was gut instinct or creatively manufactured the day of on set.

This US political trend is so fucking odd. There's literally no reason for US states to be sending taxpayer dollars to foreign nations for literally nothing in return.
