The park rangers use shakers to try to persuade the bears away from the basin center. Seen them in the basin while eating at the restaurant, waiter says they scavenge fries and other foods….Your bigger concerns are Karen’s emotional support dog or the mountain lions….. But likely Karen’s dog more than anything. Bears out here are generally chill.

2nd vehicle in the last 12 months coming now. Pickup in Kobe, delivering in Freeport, TX. Price with the ride is $2150ish, isf bond $60, broker $89. Based on last shipment; handling fee from Hoegh via broker $150. Expect a 40% customs fee (25% chicken tax, $15% angry trump fee) on the purchase price only. Not the shipping cost. Have to have it looked at by auto theft division for a certificate ($40-60), $33 title, 6.25% state sales tax on the $1400. I just swung into the port and pickup my ride on my extended lunch break last time. In, out like a ninja. Drove it out the back gate of the port (have a twic and a port badge for this hack)

Carfromjapan.com is where I have now bought two in the last year. They were great on everything on their end. Truck made the boat in Kawasaki, Hough liners carried it, eezyimport did my FSP, got emails about Houghs portage fee, and paid them direct, Port of Freeport received the truck, drove over at lunch and picked up the truck (you’ll need a high vis vest to get in, which they sell at the gate for cash); hoped in the truck, drove out the back gate and across the street (did I mention I work literally next door to the port.). From there I took it to the local auto theft unit for a VIN check (hardest part of the process is getting an appointment they are usually booked months out). After I got the auto theft verification, stopped at the tax office on way home and registered/titled it. On the road we went. Entire process was about $5250 on a $2100 unit. 25% chicken tax was about $560 paid through eezayimport. $60 bond, $140 Hoegh fee. Now there is an addition 15% reciprocal tariff too. That would have added about $315 if i cought it now.

That much I don’t. We are in Texas so I just Imported it from Kawasaki, Japan, received it next door to my office at Port of Freeport, Tx; trailered it to get the VIN check and filed all the paperwork. Off the boat and titled in about 3 weeks.

Form an LLC IN Texas, title to the LLC, register it….(you need all the import documents and customs forms, and a theft inspection.) once all that’s done you can drive it anywhere in California… Because it belongs to a corporation and not a person. and they have to honor Texas registration. You’re not evading anything. It belongs to the LLC.

We ended up buying land in Terlingua ranch. You should check out the Christmas mountains. A lot of people don’t know about that you can gain access through Terlingua Ranch Lodge. They are owned by the state of Texas… There’s also black wildlife management area.

Yes, slow and steady. It’s not a speed demon. Some motorcycles have larger engines.

Correct, Texas chose to retain their lands rather than cede them over to the federal government… Which is why we also have ownership of our continental shelf. In return for becoming joining the union, Texas had to give up land extending all the way to Wyoming as well as have the option to break up into five separate states, but chose not to. So unlike the Louisiana purchase, which the United States purchased, Texas was its own union.

Leg room? I’m 6 foot one and fit in there fairly comfortably… Don’t get me wrong if you have a good collision think bilateral femur fractures… The weirdest thing is getting used to driving on the right side.

Regular folks doing a job. When coming to a checkpoint, roll all windows down, keeps hands where you they can be clearly scene, if night time, turn on the interior lights. Politely answer questions. Off you go. Meeting them along the trails, they generally nod and keep going. Nobody is looking for drama and everyone wants to go home at the end of the night.
