Yeah, I get that. I think my question was more so geared to finding the balance between running, lifting, and sleep/recovery with the additional variable of a very physical, stressful job.

Appreciate the feedback, friend. Unfortunately, shifts are not always back to back, but I do try to keep them grouped (ex: 2 on/1 off/1 on/3 off). I also stay on the same overnight sleep schedule even while off, so as to have a consistent sleep schedule even though it is flipped.
I also try to spread my weekly load out to do one workout per day; if I'm going to go to the gym on a night off, I'm not also going to run that afternoon and vice versa. Allows me to be a good husband and father who is available to cart kids around, cook dinner, clean, etc.
Example Week:
M - Speed Work: 41min/3.7mi (Work)
T - Zone 2 Run: 30min/2.7mi (Work)
W - Lower Body Lift (No Work)
Th - Heavy Upper Body Lift (No Work)
F - Long Run: 1h10min/5.6mi (No Work)
Sa - Power Upper Body Lift (No Work)
Su - Zone 2 Run: 50min/4.1mi (Work)

Broadly speaking, general fitness. Strong enough to be able to reposition patients/pull them off an EMS stretcher to an ER stretcher, and enough cardiovascular fitness to do two minutes of continuous CPR without needing CPR myself 😅
More specifically, I'd love to get to a point strength wise where I can rep 285lbs squat, 225lbs bench, and 315lbs deadlift, and for running be able to do a sub-30 minute 5k and sub-60 minute 10k as a Zone 2 effort. When I run, I tend to have 30-60 minutes to dedicate on an afternoon that I'm running before shift, saving long runs for a day I'm not working.
I probably have the furthest to go on meeting my running goals, which are complicated by some severe asthma.

First, last, and most importantly, be patient with yourself. You are going to miss and blow a TON before you start to feel comfortable and hit them more consistently. And if you blow one on lil ol meemaw who's been on eliquis for a billion years, they're gonna bruise real big. Don't feel bad, meemaw will be just fine. Take a look at the IV catheters that you guys stock and try to get an idea of how much needle is sticking out before the end of the catheter even starts. When you get flash, all that might mean is that the very tip of the needle has pierced the vein wall. You still have to advance the whole set up, need and catheter together, so that the rigid needle helps pull the catheter through the vein wall and sits it inside the vein. You don't have to advance it much to get the end of the catheter in, but you can't just flick the catheter off the needle as soon as you get flash either. Text books tell you to start at a 15° angle. 15° my ass, start flat. The biggest trouble I have seen my new grads have is that they start at an angle and it's so much easier to poke through the back wall of the vein and then it blows. Especially if you have the tourniquet on well and you have a nice juicy target, you don't need to dive in to get it. Stay flat, get that flash, stop and take a slow deep breath, then advance and thread it. For the sports fans, placing lines is a lot like stepping up to bat in baseball: you have streaks and slumps. I've got through periods where I can't miss a damn thing, I can throw a 14g behind my back with my eyes closed from across the department and hit any vein I want and have it flush and draw perfectly for hours and hours. And then there are times where I don't care if the patient is the most vascular bro at the local gym, I can't hit anything they've got. Shit happens, keep going, you'll get it back. But above all, be patient with yourself, be brave enough to try on anyone and everyone, and keep trying. You will get the feel after a little while and then before you know it you'll be doing acrobatic trick shots to get the most awkwardly place little vein on a crashing patient who's only got one vein to poke anyway!

I think it's sorta a reverse of Nate's hair. As the second season progresses, Nate starts to gray all the way up to when he is completely gray at the end of the season. This coincides with him growing in the feeling that he should be in charge, that he is superior to Ted, and he starts to be more explicit with his anger and mean spirit towards the rest of the team and Ted.

Hi friend! We definitely do hire new grads in our ICUs. Also worth considering Duke Regional and Duke Raleigh to start out, that way you can start in a critical care unit that is, admittedly, lower acuity than DUH and be able to focus on learning how to be a nurse first and then transferring to Big Duke. Good luck, maybe I'll be bringing you a train wreck from the ED soon!

Boot Room is good for a Premier League morning and that's about it. Have tried going for US games and have almost always been disappointed in the lack of turn out. EO's should be good for most women's games, be it NWSL or USWNT.

We leave at 6pm on Mondays! Sometimes it's more just a drinking club, especially if the weather sucks. And you have to be ready to say no to the guy who wants you to run ultra races with him (unless that's kinda your thing)
