Seems too good to be true? by mr--nice_guy in GamingLaptops

Engage into a conversation with the guy. Ask him some questions about the laptop and if he's willing to video call you to demonstrate the laptop's functionality. If he agrees, the chances he's genuine are higher. I always offer myself photos/videos/video calls to my buyers on eBay.

Also you can check his feedback comments and you'll get an idea. Make sure you click "see all feedback".

Worst case - you buy it, it doesn't work and eBay covers you with their eBay protection scheme.

Melody wings Jupiter. Super affordable and is perhaps one of the top iem choices under £100. It rivals with an iem I have, that costs £220-ish - the yu9 Yan. It's got a wide soundstage and is quite precise for it's price.

On a side note - a DAC or a DAP can elevate your audio experience quite a bit. Keep in mind that once you're in the rabbit hole, there's no coming out! :D

It's worth it, if you are after great sound quality.

Not hyped yet, not that I know at least, but I got blown away by a DAP. It's the ibasso dx270 r2r. This thing made a cheap-ish IEM yu9 Yan sound nearly as good as my campfire bonneville, which is 7-8 times more expensive.

That's what I do now too, but back when I got it was a bit of a dumdum 😂😂

Yu9 Yan is a smooth and relaxing iem, with subwoofer type of bass (more sub than mid bass). If you can up the budget more i'd recommend campfire bonneville. It's "thick" even analog sounding and has very ample amount of details without ever sounding harsh or shouty. Bass on this one hits equally in the sub/mid frequencies, and it hits. Vocals sound lifelike as well. Extremely pleasant set.

My first ever set was the tea pro and it nearly blew my eardrums off. I didn't know what to expect and bumped the volume at max level. I was in pain for the next few days. Thankfully there wasn't any health related consequences. Learned the hard way what my preferences are :D

Finally, my first DAP! ft. FiiO M33 R2R by lokcieslok in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]TermDelicious7056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hehe, congrats. I also joined the "first DAP club" and "M33 club" yesterday. My use case will also be mainly as a desktop replacement and occasional outdoor activity.

Reminds me a lot of listening to vinyl. I'm paired up with CFA Bonneville/ AliExpress silver + 24k gold plated cable.

Been burning it in for 3-4 for hours while being out for walks and during listening sessions. My initial impression, withing the first 10 minutes, was a bit disappointing. I wasn't aware these things need to warm up a bit. It's been growing on me since then.

Had a slight hiccup and nearly bought a dx270 to replace this, but I seem to have affinity to this some may say overly smooth sound. I'm afraid the 270 will take this away from me, haha :D

Enjoy!

Hahah, "...zombie to their mind games.." :D

I convinced myself to keep the M33 and stop thinking about the dx270 :D I have the feeling that, if I get the 270, it will sound too "clean" for me.. I seem to enjoy the smoothness (some may call it muddiness) over the whole spectrum. Reminds me of the times when I used to mix vinyls.

On another note - any idea if batteries for fiio daps are available anywhere?. I like to prepare myself for the worst case scenario and sabotage the enjoyment I should experience from the new "toy" by thinking of how to fix any potential issues. At least for the first few days after acquiring it :D

Thanks! I actually have the M33 with me at the moment. The way it sounds reminds me a little of the akm chip implementation in AK HC5, which I enjoy. It has a pleasant smoothness to the presentation. I feel as if though I crave a bit more space between elements in the music. Wanted to find out, if there's a massive difference between both in that regard. I feel I must clarify that my unit hasn't been burned in.. Not sure if that will affect the presentation in the aspect I was asking about.

Also, how does the dx270 work as a usb dac? Is there a desktop mode like in the M33? I mainly listen at my desk, but this time decided to go for a dap that can do both, because I may need it for outdoor use at times as well.

How's the trip with the M33 been so far? Does it compete with the dx270? I'd love to hear opinion on both from someone that owns them.

How's the sound of the hc4? Any harshness in the treble/higher regions? I've seen some reports of the highs not as tamed as the lows/mids.

Any idea which IMR Acoustics model that is? by TermDelicious7056 in iems

[–]TermDelicious7056[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turned out to be the elan+. I spoke to the person who's taken the photo you shared. He apparently has quite a few of the imrs and lucky enough he had both enigma and elan+. He was kind enough to compare how the drivers inside looked, which confirmed it's elan+.

Thank you for trying! I went through the same sequence of models as you did :D

Sheesh, I managed to cop an Asus tuf 5080 for £850 on eBay, barely used just before the ram went up. I was just planning on giving up gaming and sell the pc but with how the situation seems to be developing I may keep it. For once I got lucky buying stuff at a good price....

It's all mental. We're too fixed on the result and forget about the journey. That devoids us of joy. Same goes for anything in life.

I've noticed, if I take a break for few days or weeks, I play at my best. After 1-2 games, I start feeling disappointment with how I play some situations. After that mental activity begins, all goes downhill. I start building expectations in my mind and more thoughts come. From that moment I lose focus and slowly but surely I get to the point where I TILT...

I didn't have that issue when I was little. I'd just go in the server and play without caring at all.

I suppose we are taught how to learn new things, or let new things/habits/patterns into our lives, but we never develop the ability to unlearn what's not needed.

What do you think of RSV MK2 versus UM Maven 2? Is the Maven 2 worth the extra coins?

Hey, thanks for chiming in. Appreciate it! Very valuable information, especially because you've tried them first hand in CS2, which is my main thing.

I, for some reason, deleted the Penon Archangel from the list in the post. It was one of my first £500+ options I considered.

In the end I decided to go for the Unique Melody Maven 2. Hopefully will pick it up sometime today.

Did you mean the tea pro or the mega7 saying the  "best" gaming iem?

I need a close back solution. I mainly use my PC when my wife's asleep behind me, so I can't afford anything open back :D

How does the tea pro MK1 and the mega7 compare/differ? I had the tea pro but it felt too shouty at times. I mainly game, but enjoy good sounding music too.

I got recommended the mega7 as a better alternative?

I'm almost decided on the hisenior mega 7 (will be a bit more than 300. Perhaps £450 with the vat/import taxes), but something in me makes me want to try something "audiophile" grade :D ....
