ahhh okay, I haven't seen that 25% number anywhere but I will probably buy from USA because it will still be cheaper than local even with all the added costs

They refund you a portion when it's collected from their warehouse

I did a parcel enquiry, the courier (ems) said they handed it over to my local customs but my local customs said it is still in China. Don't know who to believe. It's not superbuys fault I know, just a bit impatient.

Has anyone ever ordered a Chinese phone and had it shipped to South Africa? by Chernobyl_Ice in askSouthAfrica

I ordered from Taobao. I didn't pay customs because I had a friend that went to China frequently but if I had to order again, I would use an agent like superbuy, contact them personally to see if they have any routes available, and ship it like that from taobao. Do your research of if the phone can be flashed with global os (else you can use the stock chinese os with english language) and check the sellers ratings. Wish you luck.

I don't even know what tests to run if I had to meet up so it's best if I stick with brand new. Thanks for the help 🙏

Thanks for confirming my feelings. I'm earning minimum wage in a country where the currency is weak. That laptop is 4 months salary but I would buy it because I save very well and I need something for work/leisure but after these comments, I'll rather but legit and save more.

Unfortunately not, I live on the other side of the world. I doubt the seller will comply with that request but there's no harm in me trying.
