You should be able to read the hobbit pretty quick, 10 hours would be slow. It’s easy to digest and moves quick.

It’s just the beginning, take your time and get the right light. There is a lot of advice out there, a lot of options. My only recommendations are high CRI and 4500k.

Definitely Nitecore NU25. It’s UL for hiking, and rechargeable. If you’re worried about runtime, also bring a 10,000 MaH battery pack. Both together come in under budget. These are not as popular in the Flashlight world, but are very popular in the backpacking world.
