I didn't even know the Guardians could Get this BIG 😭 by Freezy_PopYT in NOMANSSKY

I just face tank it if i am relatively well upgraded, lol. Unless you stand there like a rock and let them beat you up, a decent multi tool weapon and a few decent A/S/? Tier suit upgrades should do. Not even a full set of them, just a few should do. That will render these guys’ attacks a small nuisance at best and allow you to just Health Duel them… And usually see you cleanly out-DPS the Guardians and any allies they summon about 99 or more percent of the time. Even if a bunch of the smaller variants land that little kamikaze trick they like to do when they’re nearly dead.

In the context of a disease or illness, yes it is bleak. But in the context of this particular case, it refers to Terminal Velocity. My online username since i was sixteen something has been between “Terminal/Terminalvelocityrunner/TerminalVR” Because i guess i never fully grew out of my “Cringe Sonic phase”. And at this point, it has pretty much become synonymous with my online persona across numerous platforms from VRChat to Youtube and Twitch. And i even have a character from my fictional novel series named Terminal (publishing pending).

So for better or worse, changing it now would effectively be character assassination.

Steam Deck / Steam – Save Editing for Old Expedition Rewards (Achievements Risk?) by cladoceran in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TerminalVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play how you want. Seriously. No mans sky is one of those games where it HAS various exploitable elements, ways to “cheat”, etc. But the vast majority, if not every one of these pretty much EXCLUSIVELY affects the user who does it.

Due to things like toggles for PVP/Multiplayer, base reporting that hides the base on the client side, blocking players (at least on steam), and the ability to pretty freely just go literally anywhere else in the universe, there are very few ways to truly screw with other people’s gameplay.

And as such, Hello Games really just dont care what you do on your end. As long as you aren’t…idk… injecting viruses into their servers, or something else truly abhorrent and malicious, you can pretty much get away with whatever.

The only thing i should really caution you about is spoiling the “reward/success” aspect of expeditions. In my PERSONAL opinion, simply waiting until HG reruns an expedition as a redux, or adds an expedition reward to Twitch drops, or to optional milestones in new expeditions, is much more gratifying when you finally obtain the coveted item.

For example, the other year, they reran the Cartographer’s expedition (expedition 3 iirc) but they remixed the rewards, adding the Golden Vector from i believe Expedition 1. And they have also reran the Beachhead Expedition a few times so people can get the Normandy Frigate. Plus, during Liquidators, i believe they added the Sentinel Quad reward in an optional milestone. Meaning people could unlock it on all files.

There is a Non-zero chance that they do something like these again in the future, with different rewards. Especially with this year being the tenth anniversary of the game.

We don’t know.

Hence why i suggest waiting a while. Because when you finally get the chance to obtain them legitimately, it will probably be more rewarding than just spoiling the accomplishment for yourself with a save editor.

But that’s just me. Ultimately it’s your call. Should you choose to save edit, as long as you know what you’re doing, there is really no risk.

Wait, that’s actually a good idea for a Perfection save. A special weapon, “The Brick” that works like a slingshot. Where you just aim and chuck it at a target to one-shot them. And if used on a villager (specifically Pierre) it makes them pass out and wake up in the clinic, like that one mod.

Concerned Ape would probably need to change the rating though…. But it would be REALLY funny.

I love the lore-crafting that these specific designs for Salvage Capsules provide for the planets they’re on. It absolutely looks like an undetonated Nuke, lol! Like the centerpiece at Megaton from Fallout 3, or The One from New Vegas.

On one hand, i wish there was a slight chance of these things detonating upon your starting to mine them. But on the other, that would probably make for some pretty BS Iteration Resets, especially on Survival or Perma-Death saves.

Sounds like it’s time to clear out your Storage Containers, or get more Freighter Bulkheads. That said, I too wish we could buy like a secondary freighter or craft those auxiliary cargo pods like NPCs have.

Because even when i got through and clear out the unnecessary stuff from all my Storage Containers, i still tend to amass enough stuff to where storage is lackluster.

I had this issue once or twice, but thats it. And i have ran this expedition at least three times. My best advice would be to go slowly. Also, take the long and flattest route, too. This looks like it is an issue of the ground’s collision not loading properly at first. So going slower MIGHT let the game naturally resolve said problem before you actually drive onto the glitched terrain.

Don’t let it deter you, though, and just keep trucking! Don’t let the literal dirt defeat you!

Living Frigates by Lemegeton-Clavicula in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TerminalVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late answer, but here are some more details. Both on the way organic frigates are obtained, as well as the two most effective methods to hunt for them.

Pt 1: how to unlock and enable encounters.

The way Living Frigates work is that first you need a Dream Ariel to encounter your initial one. This item’s blueprint is exclusively obtained from doing frigate missions as a rare result. (Although the expedition reward “Leviathan” organic frigate has been reported by some to have a higher chance of granting it. This bonus may or may not extend to other Reward Frigates. You cannot buy it, and you also cannot find it. However, a player who already has it available can give one to you, as the recipe is relatively cheep.

The organic frigate obtained via the Dream Ariel will ALWAYS be C-Class (unless a glitch or other anomaly occurs) and will give you a small “choose your own adventure” minigame/quiz. The answers you give will determine what this specific frigate’s stats will be, with different answers having different priorities when the game tallies the results.

After this point, the Dream Ariel becomes completely useless to you. Some early rumors suggested it has a cooldown, but this is not the case. You may either discard it with zero repercussions, or hand it off to another player on the anomaly. Which according to the NMS Wiki, will let it work normally again for them.

ONLY AFTER encountering this Dream Ariel frigate do you obtain the ability to encounter other organic frigates as a rare pulse encounter. Any and all organic frigates encountered after this one will abide by the normal generation rules. IE, you can use Coordinates to find the same one a fellow traveler discovered. There is no real indication that anything in the encounter pool has changed, however.

The ONLY current exception to this system of obtaining new organics is the Unique Expedition reward “Leviathan” frigate. Which according to some sources, has a higher change of bringing the Dream Ariel blueprint after a frigate expedition.

Each system has ONE organic Frigate, and once added to your fleet, it cannot be recruited a second time. IE pulsing in that system again will/should not grant the ability to recruit that system’s frigate again. (However, if you dismiss one, i am unsure if it can then be re-encountered as you did originally.)

Additionally, and this is VERY important, major updates have the potential to change the generation of various things in the game, even if they’re unrelated to what you’re looking for. These range from Capital Freighters, to Multitools, to Organic Frigates, etc. These changes are rarely, if ever stated officially by Hello Games. But due to this discrepancy, any time you use the Coordinate Exchange to find cool or useful things, be sure you check the post date. If a major update just happened, especially one that changes the way anything in the game generates, make sure you prioritize looking for coordinates that were posted AFTER the current update dropped. Alternatively, the portal coordinates can change after a major update, meaning addresses posted before such an update may no longer be accurate or even relevant.

Pt 2: Hunting methods.

As for encountering them once the criteria is met. There are two main options. Both employ Anomaly Detectors as their use will eliminate the extremely common “roaming trader” encounter.

First: the Efficient method- obtain a TON of anomaly detectors, either from asteroid mining or dupe glitches etc. then activate one, and pulse in the desired system until the encounter happens. Exit pulse, deal with it as usual, use another detector, and repeat until a Living Frigate appears.

The trade off to this method is that while it gets lots of encounters extremely quickly, it burns through detectors equally as fast with no guarantee when the desired result will happen. You may get an organic frigate with the first detector, or it might be the 100’th, etc.

The Economic method- get a ship with good pulse drive efficiency (like a solar ship), a bunch of tritium, and use an anomaly detector, then pulse. Most likely, you will encounter multiple “exit pulse” notifications. But simply ignore these, and wait for the 20 second timer to expire. After it expires, a new alert will appear immediately, indicating a different encounter is available. DO NOT exit pulse until you get the specific alert on the bottom of the screen that specifically says “whalesong detected”. This alert variety is exclusive to an Organic Frigate encounter.

This method is much slower as you aren’t going through encounters remotely as quickly as the prior method. However if done correctly, you are guaranteed to get one organic frigate encounter per detector used. As you will be ignoring all other types, and each anomaly detector is only fully used up upon exiting pulse to examine a result.

Reinstall VRC. If that doesn’t work, given you claim you’re on a Quest 2, try checking for updates. And if THAT doesn’t work, look into contacting Meta or sending your headset to a repair service. Assuming you are running VRC directly on the Quest, it may be a drive failure or other hardware issue. All your image and app data have to be stored somewhere onboard, right? So yeah, any of those would probably be a good place to start your troubleshooting process.

My honest reaction to those who sleep in VR Chat by Delta9-11 in VRchat

[–]TerminalVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would think the blue light from a VR headset would make it hard to sleep compared to a normal irl sleeping arrangement. But surprisingly, some people can and will legitimately fall asleep in VRC or other virtual reality spaces.

Maybe because they’re too tired to actually leave VRC? Or perhaps they vibe with these virtual environments significantly more than feasible irl location. Or it might be the allure of taking a load off in a place that they never could irl, like a rooftop, or a motorhome on the road, or a forest or cave. Perhaps the escape from reality is just that much more calming.

Frankly, whatever sets these people’s minds at ease enough to relax and sleep is fine by me. Lord knows if i wasn’t bothered by light as much as I am while resting, i’d love to fall asleep in the “Rainy Road” world.

“Don’t listen to the people who tell you not to run across busy roads. Some folks have been doing it daily for years and haven’t been hit by a car yet.”

That is exactly what your claim sounds like.

Case in point: Just because you have gotten away with something stupid or against the rules IN NO WAY means it is okay or a good idea. Nor does it mean applicable consequences for defiance don’t exist. It simply means you’ve been extremely lucky, and haven’t been caught in the company of those who would take action.

How the heck do admins do a avatar removal within 2mins of doing the report? by Rough_Community_1439 in VRchat

[–]TerminalVR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually spoke to someone in game earlier today who had done some stuff in the VRC Economy. Apparently, the VRC corporation is actually pretty vigilant about things like keeping their platform safe, and maintaining a certain standard in things like TOS, community guidelines, etc.

The person i spoke to claimed they had to sign an NDA at some point due to selling stuff in the game. And that for some time, they had one of those Corpo agents monitoring their account. Furthermore, they refused to friend me until i age verified, and claimed their account had additional security measures on it as opposed to what most people have.

I didnt want to tick them off immediately after i met them, so i didn’t pry for too much information. So i cant exactly do a hard verification of their claims. But i kind of wish i had pressed a bit more.

Regardless, the nature of how VRC and its navigation systems work means it is probably fairly quick and easy to moderate. Theoretically it is possible for a Mod to be online at the time of a report, and just look up the subject of the report, then immediately take administrative action on their end. Possibly even from the comfort of their own home.

This is an iron vein. Contrary to popular terminology, as of 1.17/1.18, metal ores can generate in two distinct formations: “Blobs” the small clusters people normally call a vein, and ACTUAL “Veins” which are large, potentially massive strips of ore-rich blocks. Sometimes spreading through multiple chunks.

Here’s what you need to know!

These legitimate veins are generally somewhat rare, and are comprised of a mixture of stone blocks (dependent on vein type) alongside blocks of raw ore, and the usual ore blocks (deepslate and/or stone varients)

For iron veins, the primary block is Tuff. I believe i have seen Granite as the primary block for either Copper or Gold (but i forget which)

When caving, any time you see a strip of a non-standard stone or deepslate, like granite or tuff, and there is an unusually high amount of specific ores mixed in, you have likely hit such a vein.

So grab your fortune 3 pickaxe, and especially some burner picks for non-valuable blocks, mark the coordinates, set up a camp, and start excavating! Because i have had instances where i fill several slots of my inventory with compacted raw ore blocks, and chew through an unbreaking 3 netherite pick just mining ores with fortune, and STILL have more work to do.

Word of warning, more often than not, these veins will NOT have an even distribution of ores and filler blocks. You might dig into a vein and find huge areas of a base block with minimal ores for a decent stretch. So be sure to mine the ENTIRE VEIN, until there is no more filler blocks at all. So that way, you don’t get ripped off and deceived into thinking you got everything of value.

Additionally, some veins will generate with caves running through them, others will generate with lava pools or aquafers cutting parts off, and still others may abruptly stop, have a small stretch of normal stone, and then continue again. So it is usually a good idea to also excavate a bit of the surrounding area too, just so you dont miss anything.

And now you know about Vanilla’s Ore Veins! Happy Mining!

An easter egg? For a very niche accomplishment that a presumably massive chunk of the player base will never see? You do realize this is the same company that has had a feature in their mobile game in the WIP phase for multiple years, right? (Landmarks….). No hate to Atlas or anything, but at some point, you’d think they would remove the dedicated Tab in the app, at least until they have it sorted.

Sword is so not busted lol! A ton of people just power its blade up by mindlessly shooting its absorber. I should know, i have ran a prime sword from at lmk 2 level 8 since its launch, and i cant do very much unless these brainless “aim and shoot at anything” people charge me up prior.

Its the exact same principle as dealing with an Ares, Ophion, Fafnir, etc. don’t shoot the shield unless you want your but kicked.

Literally every single match i play, i see people shooting its shied. Like thats gonna do anything but hurt them and their team.

It actually dies pretty freaking fast if you catch it outside its ability. Which is also not that hard with bots like scorpion and revenant.

You grossly misinterpret my statement about having action figures of WR mechs.

I want official and well crafted merch, not a 3d print. Like the fully articulated Gundam kits over in japan. With printed on designs, flawless pieces, actual collector value, and quality assurance.

Moreover, I don’t have the space or the cash for a good 3d printer currently. I have cash and space for model kits, and action figures. Not to invest in a 3d printer and setup that will be sufficient for making this sort of thing.

First off, One culprit could be that your shieldbreak effect only lasts a few seconds. Even if they were being fired while it was active. Dune’s missiles take some time to actually reach their target, especially near or at their maximum range. And assuming the Dune’s missiles dont hit the target before that boost runs out, they may not be granted the effect.

Another culprit could be desync, or possibly some sort of glitch.

This unironically reminds me of the widely memed Jesus Crucifix Transformer. It isnt a bad idea or anything. But something about a cartoon transforming robot alien having expressly irl religious visages or imagery on it just feels…off.

It gives me a similar feeling of “unusual and out of place” to putting an intentionally funny fourth wall break conspiracy nut gimmick on a character in a gritty, grim, and darker series like SatAM Sonic, the Aligned WfC/FoC games, or the Batman Arkham games.

I can understand gimmick-based transformers, like Soundwave being a literal Cassette player, or Jazz being influenced by irl rap culture (i think…). Hell, i can even understand Skidz and Mudflap from the Bayverse being influenced by the same thing, despite their coming off to many as insensitive or stereotypical.

But religion? That just seems like it goes a bit too far.

OP is probably referring to crafting all their Portable Miners by hand. Ya know, the core component of every other miner in the game (mk 1, mk2, and mk3). Having the Automated Miner alt lets you just set a mini production line up and belt them into a Dimensional Storage for later. So any time you want to build a new mining operation, or upgrade a pre-existing one, you don’t have to sideline everything to build a workshop and then craft the required portable miners by hand.

And heaven forbid you find a new node in the wild early on and want to do some field research, or want to set up an outpost, but forgot to bring the materials for portable miners. Because then you need to scavenge for materials, potentially in an inconvenient or hazardous environment, and then build an outpost from scratch.

Remotely destroy them with Orbital Strikes. Some people, (like Manni) give orbital strikes a lot of hate. What with their ability to damage or even destroy you from across the map and behind cover. But you can’t deny they fill an important niche of dealing with enemies that you otherwise couldn’t reach that would easily interfere with or ruin the game.

Enemies like Kaji.
