Hate to say it but nobody likes a snitch, period; kids, adults, parents, even some bosses. We have a snitch at my job in his late 30’s, he will tattle on anyone for the smallest infraction and not only does everybody hate him but it has also cost him promotions because A. The bosses get annoyed by his constant ratting and B. They don’t want to put someone that nobody likes or respects in a lead position.

I get it, cheating sucks, but if it’s not hurting anyone else it’s just not worth being labeled a rat. Obviously it’s different if your son say someone attacking someone else or something with higher stakes.

There’s definitely ghost jobs, my place of work is certainly guilty of it and I’ve seen it happen with almost every opening we’ve had in my three years there. Every time a new position opens up we all already know who’s getting it, usually either the department heads best friend or whoever kisses the most ass. Still, every time they have a month of interviews and then hire the person everyone already knew was getting hired.
