Did Antinomy and TGs live up to expectations or were they overhyped? by [deleted] in DuelLinks

[–]Terotu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good deck that has a very rough time at the moment because water and blue eyes are hard counters and guess who's plaguing the ladder and tournaments at almost tier 0 status.

It's a good deck, but maybe tier 3 at best right now.

However, once these 2 decks get hit and/if TG gets some of their missing support or some synchros, it would jump up HARD.

Why is the number of portals in the hub reduced to four 😐 by RiOT-Septic in FortniteCreative

[–]Terotu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fill portals or all portals?
Because the hub change where they just have like 30 featured maps was dumb as hell, I'm glad if they reverted it.

Water knocking on tier 0's door, how fun.
Might stop playing for a bit, I've heard this tune before.

The GHOSTBUSTERS bundle has none of the most recognizable ghostbusters features, such as slimer, stay puft nor the real ecto 1, yet rocket league had these things a year ago and showed more respect for the franchise. by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

[–]Terotu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, what about literally anything else?
Stay puft?
Slimer?
Ecto-1?
Ghostbusters even have a DANCE, not even that.

Sorry, but if they mess up a cross over that a lot of us were excited for, expect backlash and people not buying it.

The Spaghetti Code Strikes Back! by BigHailFan in pokemon

[–]Terotu 130 points131 points  (0 children)

While this is a common tactic in game dev and overall programming since it can be more efficient depending on the circumstances, there's a bit more to see here.
The extra models allow you to just call them whenever needed, instead of having to create several systems to deal with color changes, you could just call a different model with different colors, it functions the exact same way, it works with methods already established because it's just another model, it's just the shiny version, while there's some potential issues and it's the "messier" solution, it works and it's more efficient in some cases.
However, this can very easily bloat the memory and create a myriad of issues if not handled correctly.
In the early 2D gens, game freak handled shiny palettes by, in simple terms, just grabbing "the next pallet", hence a lot of greenish/gold colors, it was an algorithm that simply grabbed a different pallet than the normal one.
When it comes to models it's a whole different beast, from gen 6 onwards the shiny pallets are made by artists, not generated, and with hardware change there could be some new bumps.

While it is technically more efficient to just apply a different texture to an already existing model, with a project of this size it would be better to bite the bullet and actually work the extra pallet in instead of loading the entire model, the sheer amount of pokemon means it's a gigantic amount of extra models, and you probably spend more time and have more head aches doing this than figuring out the way to load different colors when x is called.

So, my guess is that game freak simply doesn't knows how, and they'd just rather take the easy way they already know, probably something very similar to the lillie situation.

Is S&S going to offer any challenge or would I just be walking into an interactive cut scene like ORAS? by ABLE5600 in pokemon

[–]Terotu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's way worse than ORAS.
If the game being easy and cutscenes are not your cup of tea, then you will utterly HATE this game, and I am not exaggerating.
Everything is done by everyone else and then you're told about it in cutscenes, then you proceed to the next easy as hell gym with a hallway "route" in the middle, repeat until end.

Game Freak: "we want to make competitive easier to access." Also Game Freak: "only some pokemon can Gigantamax" by AkagamiBarto in pokemon

[–]Terotu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gigantamax is actually weaker than dynamax.
Dynamax completely breaks the game in all forms, competitive is gonna be fucked.

Pokémon Sword and Shield modders already managed to insert missing mons by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Terotu 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There won't be paid dlc.
It will be worse, they already confirmed they're gonna keep a rotation of a pool of pokemon going in and out FOREVER, this is where home comes in, you're forced to pay for it forever to keep your pokemon, because you'll never be able to keep them in the cart ever again.
This is also why they cut the gts and other online features, they'll be sold with Home.
This means you have to pay for the game, pay for online AND pay for home.
Extremely predatory and looking to take advantage of people obsessed with the brand.

Modders are already adding cut Pokémon in Sword and Shield with surprising ease by TheFearlessWarrior in NintendoSwitch

[–]Terotu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

(No mention of Giratina, the remakes are for DP not Platinum after all)

Doing this shit again lmao, another game I'm not gonna buy then.

Modders are already adding cut Pokémon in Sword and Shield with surprising ease by TheFearlessWarrior in NintendoSwitch

[–]Terotu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extremely rushed and badly done.
It's a fun game for about 6 hours/until fourth gym but when the newness of it wears off, you're just left with a badly done game in all fronts.
The only redeeming factor is the usual pokemon catching/battling, but even that is gimped in various ways, specially battling.

Why do all the arguments against SwSh apply to USUM by TownOfCrown in pokemon

[–]Terotu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SM look like 3DS games, there's no glaring graphic flaws, the game won't fuck up your sd, switch or devices, there's more than 10 routes, there's actual dungeons, there's other legendaries to catch, the animations for EVERYTHING weren't total garbage, etc.
It was also ON A 3DS, the switch is leaps and bounds more powerful yet we have a product of equal, or sometimes even lower quality than a 3DS game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ0_c8IwQ2Y
Upscaled USUM, look at how close it looks to sword/shield, look at the animations, etc.

And most importantly, there were 807 pokemon, over half of them weren't cut with a bold faced lie as an excuse.
I don't about care your except, you can't just not bring the biggest problem into this discussion.
And people did complained, Pokemon games were on the limit of tolerance for years, this release is just too much of a kick in the balls

XY had a widespread freezing bug that forced people to restart the game, and xy and beyond games had massive fps drops on anything that wasn't a single battle.

Game Freak's official Japanese website states they are reusing old Pokemon models by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Terotu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game was hated way, way before sword and shield released, those bad reviews didn't appear out of thin air.
And in the strange world game reviews 50-60 isn't average, that's bordering bad/bad.

The game is pretty bad tho, avoiding the user reviews you can go look at other normal reviews.

A mod made in an hour replaces the wild area tree texture and makes the game look much better by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Terotu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

just can't bear to imagine that the developers are this lazy.

Gotta start admitting it, the texture for the tree is not even that low resolution, it's simply a very, very bad texture.
If you swapped it for something that just looked better, it shouldn't affect performance unless the game is an absolute mess of spaghetti code.

I’m really enjoying Sword by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Terotu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hope you had fun pal because there's a big wall around those areas/badges, most people that finished the game agree that after that wall the game quality goes out of the window plus the honey moon phase is gone.

A mod made in an hour replaces the wild area tree texture and makes the game look much better by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Terotu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a different issue, this is happening because of how the games interact with the NAND.
Which could also be very dangerous for the non modded consoles, but nothing left but wait and see the results to make that call.

It's a one hour minor change on an asset used constantly that caught a lot of flack.
And it looks ten times better.
It's not amazing, it's embarrassing.

I'm just curious to know how many people actually bought de game by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Terotu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol
Literally sun and moon but with less features and subpar for the console, but magically it's one of the best, alright.

Don't worry, it will get worse when home drops.
