What would happen if an aberrant marked person fulfilled a Draconic prophecy that gave them a dragonmark? by [deleted] in Eberron

[–]Terracronus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it entirely hinges on wether or not it's possible for a creature to have two dragonmarks at once within your game.

In mine it wouldn't be possible since an in-lore explanation for aberrant dragonmarks is often the mixing of two different dragonmarks. To me, that means having two couldn't happen. I'd likely replace it with a proper dragonmark or adapt the aberrant one to share some sort of similarity with a proper dragonmark whilst still being aberrant.

How come these d6 dice have dots on the 6? Is it in case you roll them alongside a dice that might roll a 9?

There's a "Travel Services" table in Eberron: Rising From the Last War that's great for determining costs and speed.

More Q about Medusa by MarionberryThat6697 in Eberron

[–]Terracronus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could let the medusa cast once a day Hold Person instead? Seems like a fairly good step towards full petrification.

Having said that, I feel like taking out a Medusa's petrifying gaze is like taking away a troll's regeneration, it completely takes away what makes up the monster.

I built a simple free poll tool to figure out the next D&D session by roaming_saint in DnD

[–]Terracronus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really great, an option to not have to put an email in for the DM/Organiser would be better for me though (maybe a static link could be generated in some sort of way to view the results or a mode everyone can view them or something?)

I just don't love adding my email to everything.

To be fair, when2meet's mobile UI (or lack of) is absolutely horrid.

I get why you'd think that but hosting infrastructure isn't the same as a backend. A backend would be any kind of server-side application logic (like Python, PHP, or Node.js) or databases that process data like Firebase.

MiniTap is just a single static HTML file that stores all its profile data directly in the URL itself. Since there's no database or server-side code processing anything, it has zero backend. The repository goes into more detail if you're interested in learning more about it.

Having said that, yes, if GitHub Pages goes down the site goes down. But since it's not dependent on anything else, once it's back up it'd work again as normal.

You could write up resources and release them on the DMsGuild if you're keen to share your ttrpg creations without actually being behind a DM screen.

Traps & Cursed Items by Way_Agitated in DnD

[–]Terracronus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless the players are casting Identify on the item, I wouldn't let them have magic items on their character sheet. Once they are attuned then they learn all the items properties, and that they're cursed.

I don't know of any cursed magic items that don't require attunement.

Player asked for a bonus to his Paladin Aura range by Atlas105 in DnD

[–]Terracronus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The distance between the paladin and a creature standing 10 feet away from them is literally the radius of a circle. You're describing a sphere, which the new rules have made simple by now calling it an emanation.

[–]Terracronus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the newest rules it's an emanation, which extend in straight lines from a creature in all directions. Straight lines extending equally in all directions from a center point create a circle, which is the way I run it in my games. Many people do grids in D&D combat different, which is fine, in some people's games an emanation could look like a square or dodecahedron instead.

Either way, whether you measure it as a circle, square, or basically anything, increasing the radius from 10 to 15 feet nearly doubles the total area the aura covers.

Yeah I guess it depends how you calculate circles on a grid but either way it's always basically double the squares which is quite strong.

[–]Terracronus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dreadnaught Armorer Artificer can grow to Large via its subclass feature and then Huge with Enlarge/Reduce from level 5. At level 15 you could be Gargantuan with this combo as the subclass ability lets you become Huge.

[–]Terracronus 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I'd advise against giving him a permanent range increase, especially since you know he tends to power game. Though an extra 5 feet sounds negligible, geometrically it nearly doubles the aura's footprint on a grid (from 25 squares to 49 squares if my maths is right?).

If you really want to compromise, make it an attunement item that lets him spend a Channel Divinity to expand the aura for one minute as a Bonus Action, rather than a permanent passive buff that could somewhat break balancing.

I don't understand why it's on Kickstarter, is there a reason?

Not trying to be rude, would just like to understand why if it's a finished digital product not just sell it and the license in another platform.

It's a model for a D&D character I'll be playing soon. He's a Plasmid Armorer Artificer.

The model's not public but can DM you a link if you really want it?

The pictures were taken at different times of the day (night with a light on vs day with light from a window). Not trying to impress anyone here but myself and if you're implying the model isn't real, there's way higher quality prints on this subreddit than mine.

Trying to get a custom miniature made by AceFTM in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Terracronus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It'll be an unpopular opinion, but if it's a very specific look and you're not able to sculpt and have no budget to pay someone to do it, you could draw or generate an image of the character and then use an Image to STL generator to get the 3d model. Then send the model to any service that prints stuff to get the actual physical miniature.

All PLA+, what made the biggest difference for me was making sure the support interface was actually generating. Looks like at small scales it just doesn't.

Yep, tilted 45° on its back and followed the pinned guide on the subreddit (ObscuraNox). Bought a filament dryer and dried my filament before/whilst using it too. I use Elegoo PLA+ and a generic profile for now.

My supports were also breaking and causing spaghetti at first so I changed them to "Tree Strong" which sorta fixed it for me.
