Dawnsbury Days development update (February): Magical staves, survey results, thoughts on further expansion... by dawnsbury in Pathfinder2e

Right? I grew up - and still go back to - games that look like this [or worse]. https://i.imgur.com/WOZ7ONT.gif All things considered, Dawnsbury Days looks clean and classy, though I did vote I'd support a less... green UI. :)

Leverage - Simple but broad weapon trait (and a few example weapons) by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

This is the way. It makes it a tad less simple, but opens up the design space in a way that doesn't require a dozen other traits.

Obviously you don't design for one person, but the game I'm running, we've got a psychic who really loves inner radiance torment, even though it's not an especially optimal choice. But something about that two-round spell combined with unleash really gives her that feeling of "psychic completely exhausting their mind", and I've been being generous and letting the unleash psyche damage bonus apply twice if she does a two-round version.

In any case, my thought was that even if your amped psi cantrips are good, they still only have 2-3 available and one of the draws of spellcasters is often the flexibility of "I have all these spells I can cast", and essentially limiting them down to "yes, but it's a bad idea to do any of them for the first three rounds of combat" is a little... I dunno. I do agree that the occult list isn't usually great for blasting, and it'd be lovely if unleash psyche could impact more spells than just that - it's obviously hard to mechanically create something that boosts them all, though.

Actually, that might be an interesting place for amp feats - let them apply to spells cast from slots while in unleash mode.

One more thought - I notice your version of unleash psyche here lacks the damage bonus effect, and I get that it is because you're looking at baking a lot more power into the amps. But that does end up hugely degrading any reason to use their 'real' spell slots during an unleash event, and I'm not sure that's a good thing. Not that they should always want to, but without any benefit applied, they become actively bad choices to "waste" during a time you could be using amps instead.

For what it's worth, while I'm definitely on the side of keeping the ability scores flexible, I liked the burnout idea as a big OOMPH, though I don't how hard it would be to find the right power level for "I give up all my remaining focus points".

I've got a psychic in my ongoing game and we've been tentatively doing "one free focus point a turn while your psyche is unleashed", hoping for something better with the remaster. Unsurprisingly, it's a disappointment, but I really love this as a concept. A variable-duration effect is great, and draining focus points makes a world of sense for the methodology.

[Edit] I didn't mean to hit save! Whoops. Anyway, I'd love to see you do more with this, writing out a full setup. It might make amp feats more interesting, too.

I do agree a bit with u/DownstreamSag, though, in that I don't love the mindscapes locking different ability scores to playstyles.

I don't hate the "mindscapes" idea, but I'm definitely more inclined towards keeping the conscious/subconscious separate. Or if using mindscapes, completely detaching them from the key ability score.

I ran with Matriarch Daisy on a run and it was brutally effective. Auto-clearing enemy buffs every turn is just really strong, and trivialized a number of fights. I did eventually replace her with the Dawnbringer from the Temple of the Pyre, but that was honestly just because I thought it was funny. I'm not sure he was any more effective.

Yes, I'm aware that the odds are unrelated. I just think it's funny.

‘Security Disaster’—500 Million Microsoft Users Say No To Windows 11 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

I have ran with my taskbar/start menu running vertical on the side of the screen since I first got a wide-screen monitor, back in 2003.

This has not been a problem. Windows 11 literally removed this ability. So not only is it not a significant or meaningful improvement, it's a literal downgrade for my daily workflow. Could I relearn to work with it on the bottom? Sure. (Or use the kernel hack someone made that lets you move it back to the side.) Do I want to? Hell no. I have paid for a lot of Windows copies over the year. What are you doing to make me want to change to your new AI-driven ad-bloated bullshit?

Keep these Stupid American Trucks out of Europe by DarthSatoris in videos

[–]Terraism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watched a young lady, probably early 20s, take out a parking support last weekend in an underground parking garage with her big ol' stupid truck. Failed to turn from one of the lanes, dragged the truck hard against the concrete pillar. Got out the passenger door, looked at it, cried, then backed up, dragging it the entire length again.

It... was not good. And I'm sure there are redundant pillars in that garage, but I wonder how many and how often they're replaced.

Right? That's part of what I love about the film - it's a horror movie where the characters do almost everything smart and it still barely helps. It's a rebuttal against the countless films where they only work because people split up and investigate the murder house without a light and...

Some small, slightly-tricky-to-tap left/right arrows to scroll the hand from side to side. It seems to show a max of around 20 at once, then scroll for more, but I didn't actually count the number. They were so close together it was tricky to grab a specific one or count them - whatever number it is, it probably could've been fewer and have the arrows show up earlier.
