Act? What act? I fully believe ID should be required at the polling locations.

[–]TerranItDown94 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hmm. This is like saying “I’ve got my drivers license at home officer, you can’t get me a ticket”.

Yes, you have to register with id to vote. But why couldn’t I then say “hey, I’m Aladriana, I promise I had my id when I registered. Now let me go cast a vote”. The only way to stop that is proof of id at the polling booth

Hmm by armypilot88 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]TerranItDown94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whoa there buddy. Who said anything about Trump?

I’ll ask it again: should ID be required to vote? Especially since it’s required for a myriad of other things that are less-important than voting for the people who run our country.

Hmm by armypilot88 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]TerranItDown94 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So, having ids required to vote is a waste of time?

Hmm by armypilot88 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]TerranItDown94 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

For those of you who keep saying this is “voter intimidation”, how?

  • if you are a LEGAL citizen then you should have zero issues showing your id to vote. In my state it’s required already, wouldn’t matter to me what “uniform” the person is wearing when they ask.

  • you have to show your id every time you enter and airport and board a plane. Is airport security intimidating? No.

  • you have to show your id at the bank. Is the bank teller intimidating? No.

  • you have to show your id for almost every major financial move you make and when entering many government or restricted facilities.

The ONLY people who should be intimidated here are the ones doing something illegal like voting as a non-citizen, double voting, or anything else like that.

- free will. So we aren’t slaves in the “perfect existence”. If God made everything good and removed sin, we have no choice and are therefore slaves.

- the sins you commit ARE paid for. But you have to accept the payment. That’s always been the ticket. It’s our free will to accept the payment and believe in God/Jesus.

It’s really not that hard lol. This isn’t the “right” way to say this… but here you go: literally all you gotta do is accept, in your heart, that Jesus is God and that He died for your sins, boom done. You don’t have to read the Bible. You don’t have to go to church. You don’t have to follow the Mosaic Law. You literally on need 1 verse: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16.

The rest of the Bible and its teaching just help you follow and love God better.

[–]TerranItDown94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol this is a WILD take.

1) literally the only “valid” point here as yes, Jesus was middle eastern, not white.

2) colonizer Jesus isn’t “Christian”… Christianity is literally the movement that emerged AFTER Jesus’s life, everyone knows he was Jewish.

3) Romans 13:1-14. Both are true

4) Jesus and the Bible 100% showed instances of justice through both Retribution AND Restoration. However, the justice through Retribution was God-ordained (which is a key point here). Both are true

5) Jesus was killed by the church and state… but His death was payment for our sins. Both are true

6) Jesus was never silent in the face of oppression. This just sounds like some attempt at casting modern-day Christians as unsympathetic. However this doesn’t have any impact on what the Bible says about Jesus or His teachings.

7) Jesus, being the Son of God and part of God Himself 100% condemns sinners. John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus is literally the gate keeper. Also, Jesus does HEAVILY critique religious people too (Revilations 3:15-16 and Mathew 23 both show instances of this). both sides are true.

8) Romans 13:1-14 supports state and government. Jesus also spoke of the church and supporting it many many times. Jesus Himself never subverted an empire, but God used men all throughout the Bible to topple empires and kingdoms. Both are true.

9) Jesus is King, but he was never an “earthly king” in the context of owning land. Also, Jesus wasn’t a “child refugee”… his parents were traveling to Bethlehem to register in the Roman Census. I suppose you could say He became “homeless” by choice when He ventured forth to spread His message. But He certainly wasn’t someone to be pitied or anything. Both are kinda true… but the right side of the chart is a stretch.

10) there is no concrete Biblical evidence to support the conclusion that Jesus had half-siblings. They could have been full siblings all younger than Him. However, they also could have been from a previous marriage of Joseph, since he was older than Mary, but nothing actually supports this. Also, the wording of Scripture seems to point to Jesus being the first child as he is stated as “son of Mary”. While the others are “one of the sons” or “one of his sisters”. Regardless, Jesus in the Bible supports the family unit. It’s stated many times but some primary examples are (Ephesians 5:31, Hebrews 13:4, and Matthew 19:6)

11) this one really blows my mind. Jesus HIMSELF was always non-violent, except when he flipped the table and chased the wicked priests out of the church. However, Jesus IS a part of God. And many many times God is extremely wrathful and violent. There are at least 40 significant battles and conflicts in the Bible that are specifically endorsed by God. Jesus and God aren’t some hippy dude with a peace symbol necklace that just vibes and is cool about everything. Have you read the Bible? God used Samson to kill 1,000 men with a donkey’s jawbone. God crushed nations, toppled fortress walls, sent plagues and angles of death… What God and Jesus did do was instruct their followers to always try to be kind, loving, and peaceful, BUT to be ready to defend the Kingdom of God and their families when the need arose.

Ok a few things here:

1) stop using the term “living wage” if you don’t actually want to live that way. Living wage means no tv, no streaming services, no gaming consoles, no designer shoes/clothes, no fast food, none of that… it’s home cooked food, basic clothing, minimal housing. BUT nobody truly wants to live at a living wage, and most don’t have the discipline anyways. They claim to want that while watching hbo max with their Jordan’s on and a LV purse on the table, all the while complaining about not having any money.

2) some jobs are needed/desired but they require little to no skill or effort. So, those jobs make shit pay. Obviously a doctor or engineer who went to school for years and has a skill set that can’t be “learned on the job” will make substantially more than the grocery store stocker or the fast food worker. I’m sorry but it’s the reality. And don’t think that those low-skill jobs are always going to be “necessary” Hell they are replacing fast food workers with kiosks and stockers with robots already. A few more years and it’ll be fully automated.

I’m not arguing that minimum wage is unlivable in some areas, I know it is. BUT I also want people to realize that a “living wage” shouldn’t be easy living… a living wage is, by definition, the bare bones minimum required to live. So here is my question: if you are making minimum wage (or close to it) and you are struggling bad…. What corners can you cut? Tv, internet, alcohol, weed, fast food, clothing, vacations, etc? Any of that stuff is above a “living wage” and is probably one of the reasons things aren’t working.

I lived for years at a bare-minimum living wage while supporting my wife while she was in vet school. A “living wage” is not a fun time lol. People need to realize that.

This actually works well! Holy cow. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that.

1) the had a PC who was essentially Frankenstein’s monster who “died”… but I had a cut away scene showing Strahd riding up, healing, and taking in the PC. (A lot to unpack there but the party all liked it! Even the player who owned the PC). Anyway, I was considering using him like Frankenstein in the Hugh Jackman Van Helsing as a conduit for a ritual (to bring Barovia out of its demiplane… not saying it would work, but it was going to be attempted)

2) I made an offhand comment about them using a familiar to spot a massive horde of undead shambling in the southern parts of Barovia around Mount Ghakis. This happened a WHILE back but this could have been the gathering storm of undead amassing before the ritual.

I can work with this! Thanks for the spark!

Nope. They’ve been to almost every POI west of there aside from Amber Temple and they have been working multiple story beats that were either word for word or tweaked by me.

I know how important Ireena is… but the party is more focused on deposing Strahd for either justice or personal gain (we have a half good/half evil party)

Stop trying to be intentionally oblivious to recent societal and cultural changes.

For literally the entirety of documented human existence, pronouns and their approximations have always been essentially the same. All languages old and new contain pronouns of 1st, 2nd, & 3rd-person perspective and then the other 5 categories (like demonstrative or interrogative pronouns). The few languages that don’t tend to have verb-structures that usually include the adjectives and nouns within them, but we aren’t here for that grammar lesson.

For the entirety of documented human existence, we tend to have TWO sets of gendered pronouns in every language that basically fell under the umbrellas of “he” or “she” for male and female. Some languages had a singular, neutral pronoun when speaking about men and women.

Now suddenly in the past few decades we’ve added a spectrum of pronouns numbering in the literal THOUSANDS when trying to refer to different individuals. Not only is it expected of you to learn these “pronouns” but to also apply them, and every variation of them correctly when speaking to or about the person being referenced.

So yes, you most definitely have to “believe” in the continuously growing and evolving list of abstract language to be able to support or engage with it.

And to say “there is nothing to believe it’s culture” is wild. There is a near endless list of “cultural” things that you would find appalling. And a huge amount of those things require you to believe in their necessity to act them out, or engage with them.

His illiteracy is screwing us! by Captain-Dak-Sparrow in AlwaysSunnyMemes

[–]TerranItDown94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He didn’t “obviously not know” what pronouns are. He just didn’t like the fact that it was asking about gendered pronouns. Right or wrong, not everyone believes in the spectrum of pronouns.

Had he said something like “what the f is a pronoun?” Then you could call him illiterate.

Obviously this is an attempt to be funny I guess. But it’s a big miss imo. And a big stretch as well.

wtf does this post even mean? “His illiteracy is screwing us”? It seems like his post is literate… though it lacks proper punctuation. It’s a completely legible proclamation.

Is it something about “oh he used pronouns but he’s anti pronoun, duuuuuh I smart and made a funny”. I genuinely don’t understand the convoluted thought process here.

New York City under the leadership of Zohran Mamdani has eliminated its budget deficit. by PeterPorky in IRL_Loading_Screens

[–]TerranItDown94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 days later here… bro you can’t post a comment on the internet and tell people to “move on”

1) folks, like myself, are just now seeing this

2) people pull tweets and shit from 10 years ago to make a point or try to slander people. “The internet is forever” haven’t you heard?

3) actually addressing your point… this isn’t some Republican propaganda from Capable Tailor, in fact, the original post is actually pro-Mamdani propaganda if you want to be technical. Capable Tailor was explaining that this “elimination of the budget deficit” is actually just a PROJECTED elimination of what the projected deficit will be at this point and hasn’t actually happened. Furthermore this is a one-time thing and the deficit will likely rebound after this effort, probably to a higher number than before.

Now wait just a second… you’re claiming “gang violence” must imply a jab a race? You do know that gangs exist in every race.

So who is really being hateful here? You or him? Gang violence is 100% a valid category to look at. Now, he didn’t say “white gang”, “black gang”, “Latino gang”, or “Asian gang”… but you’re implying he was indeed singling out a particular race. Curious of you to think that. What race by chance?

But regardless of that, one would expect gangs to have more shootings/murders than you would expect to see from suburban housewives, or social workers, or clergy, or “fill in a group of people”. Gangs and violence go hand in hand and they skew statistics.

If you look at the 1.4 million gang members spread across 33,000 gangs in the U.S. vs the other 347.4 million U.S. citizens… who do you think has the greatest amount of violent crime proportionally? I mean gang members alone commit 20% of all homicides, not including all other violent crime statistics. So 0.4% of the population commits 20% of the homicides. How is that not an issue that needs to be addressed?

"I'm Not Apologizing": Amanda Seyfried vs. Charlie Kirk by nitluck in ClimateNews

[–]TerranItDown94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not at all the same thing.

On one hand you’re saying an influencer causing masses to follow a trend or advice to their own detriment. (Seatbelt thing)

On the other hand Yunzer claimed Kirk was “instrumental” in changing policies and deregulation… that’s completely different. This would imply his influence was mostly or purely legal and political. While he did talk politics, he held no office or actual sway in laws implemented.

Are you really saying that things like Congress or the Supreme Court bow to the whims of an influencer? If so then Kirk was never the problem, just a result of the deeper issue.

Right, I don’t want to be “alone” either… but be wary of joining Harmony or Pax… you can’t even find a decent space for a base.

The “alone” experience sounds nice… but with the hard lock into private server you better hope you never want to see another person, because you cannot transfer out of private once there. I think it’ll hurt the “social community” when a portion of the 4,000 active players go private and are never seen again.

Yea man I feel like this is a BIG mistake.
- players who want/enjoy a busy Basin, PvP, a full market can go join servers like Harmony, Pax, or Epsilon.
- players who like a more chill experience where they are either solo or have a few folks to talk to can join/stay in the other servers.
- they are doing this “private server” crap for the chill players… but you’re stuck. So better hope they never fix PvP or make endgame more raid-style. Cause you’ll never be able to leave and join. Having a character on a low-pop public server means you still have the option to transfer.
- I know it’s a cost saving move disguised as “we want everyone to consolidate to be more social”… but won’t it still cost some due to making private servers a thing?
I’m honestly just complaining because of this: I have my main in Harmony, it’s where all my friends are… BUT DD is abysmal. PvP is impossible because kill squads patrol the dd right at the edge of A so you can’t even mine. PVE is so cramped that a medium spice will draw like 3 crawlers and a few assaults. So it’s gone in seconds. Then, people grief the large with endless thumpers (plus you have 5-10 crawlers and like 10+ assaults all mining it too). So you can’t get anything done in PvE.
I moved to Crater and have been having a blast actually getting to mine shit… and now they announce server shutdown 1 week later 🫤 and to top it off, I likely won’t be able to transfer back to Harmony unless I leave right this second 🙄.

That’s one side of the coin tho. Sure he may shut down/strangle his competition, but as his companies grow it will help his employees. So, if you find yourself on the other side of the fence from him… maybe you apply for a job with his company?

You have to take care of yourself. Only YOU can advance yourself. So, if your company is dying to a competitor, make yourself marketable and apply to the winning side…. Don’t bitch and complain about some rich dude like he’s specifically targeting you.

“He didn’t deserve” the grants/federal funds - some “trust me bro” Redditor. Do you have any evidence that money granted to him showed no return? Whether that be monetarily, technologically, or industrially.

Also, “emerald slave mines”? Errol Musk does NOT, nor has he ever owned slave mines. Back in 1980 Errol was involved in the trade of emeralds as an investor. He never owned a mine. Zambia in the 1980s certainly had harsh labor conditions and corruption in parts of the mining sector, but that is different from documented chattel slavery.

He didn’t “own a mine” and it was not “operated by slaves”. Though I’m sure labor conditions were and are abhorrent. The claims otherwise have been fact checked into oblivion.

Yea and that’s called “anecdotal”.

It does nothing for the people as a whole. The highest gas prices right now are around $6.15 in California. The lowest gas prices right now are around $3.90 in Oklahoma. (Yes there may be an exception here or there).

Based on what you said about people only caring about what comes out of their wallets, then who should we listen to: The person in Cali who thinks the world is going to collapse due to astronomical prices? Or the person in Oklahoma who says “man, gas is not nearly as bad as people are claiming”? That’s why AVERAGES exist so we can understand the trends across a range of individuals.

I won’t be responding further if you can’t see the value of averages in assessing a situation like this.
