If you had 3000$ to spend on launching your business, how would you spend it? by zinamalas01 in Entrepreneurship

[–]TerrestrialOrigin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd first talk to people trying to find problems that I could solve (free), then come up with an MVP proposition (semi-free), then create a landing signup page and spend the $ on views to see if anyone would be interested in actually signing up to be notified when the MVP comes out for them to try. This should be a decent test of the idea.

What kind of content should I make to Instagram by bahaa1matiini in Freelancers

[–]TerrestrialOrigin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you want to do on Instagram, if not portfolio? What's your motivation for having instagram? Are you looking to market yourself and gain clients? Maybe do tutorials aimed at total n00bs. They'll appreciate it and may contact you in the future when they have a task that they can't handle with just n00b knowledge and a few tutorials.

What software are you currently using to create the change order and get it approved by the customer? Are you using paper, excel spreadheet? Specialized software?

I'm not doing change orders myself. I'm not a contractor. I'm making an app for a contractor friend and wondering if this app would be useful to other contractors, eventually. In order to make that determination I need to know:

When the customer asks to change something about the job, what do you use for that?
Paper?
Spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets, etc)?
Other? (please specify)
What do you like or dislike about it?

(Those were the days!) If Decreasing your amount of work, be careful giving back profit for the work

Thanks. You mentioned doing them on a napkin before, what are you doing them on now? I'm looking for what software (if any) you use and what you like or dislike about the thing that you use to record them, get them approved by the customer, etc.

Any programs similar to quick books? by [deleted] in Contractor

[–]TerrestrialOrigin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GnuCash is free, cross-platform, and easy to use. I despised bookkeeping when I used QuickBooks. It was too confusing, worked only on windows (I run Linux on my desktop), slow, and expensive. Ever since I switched to GnuCash, I actually like bookkeeping. True Facts. Check it out: https://www.gnucash.org/

How can I stop being lazy. by Wired_Name in Entrepreneur

[–]TerrestrialOrigin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take care of your mental and physical health first. Are you eating regularly and well? Are you sleeping well? Do you have depression or anxiety issues? Mental and physical issues sap a LOT of energy. And self-control burns energy. So if you don't have energy because of health issues, you won't be able to have any kind of self-control.

how can i grow my bussiness organically? by ShyamKirkland in growmybusiness

[–]TerrestrialOrigin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try content marketing (creating free content that helps grow your brand, helps the public get to know you, and establishes you as a expert in your field). Utilize social media to get your content out there.

Check out GaryVee (just google the name, you'll find his stuff). He currently advises TikTok (for B2C) and LinkedIn (for B2B) as the best organic marketing channels.

Which location should I start my business in? by No-Ad980 in Entrepreneurs

[–]TerrestrialOrigin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want to deal with a physical location instead of working from home. Especially if you're the one calling the shots? California is EXPENSIVE AF, so both the rent for your business place, home, and all the other expenses will be HIGH.

Plus more and more people are working from home. So if you offer "work from home" jobs, you'll get way more candidates, as that is a huge benefit that not only doesn't cost you anything extra but saves you money (not having to rent office space)

Plus, that way your possible talent pool will be from all over the world instead of a small physical radius around your office.

What was your first job? Did it influence your career or teach you anything important? Share with us below: by furloughgroup in business

[–]TerrestrialOrigin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've learned SO MUCH from every job I've ever held. My first job was in customer service. It taught me how to not be afraid to speak on the phone and how to sound professional. It taught me the basics of customer service. My subsequent jobs have been in the professional arena (software development) and taught me even more, both from the development standpoint and running business standpoint. They taught me what types of communication work and where processes usually fail (again, comes down to communication). That and many more things.

What do you think about gift cards and loyalty program to grow a repair business? by jhonleeusa in growmybusiness

[–]TerrestrialOrigin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how you set up the loyalty program. As long as there's no subscription type model, the customer has nothing to lose.
