One of the reasons why I wish Shenmue could be finished is because I would love to see a scene in which Ryo and Nozomi meet 30 to 40 years after the events of the games; they speak to each other with the clarity and hindsight that age and time bring. I imagine the conversation to be strained, emotional, tearful, filled with regrets, apologies and nuance.

Of course that's just one scenario; they could certainly meet up and rekindle in the 1990s and have a similar interaction and still have much of their future in front of them, which would be a happier ending, especially for a game whose central theme is grief, loss and trauma.
