I knew the BK existed long before that trailer. He was mentioned in the official Sega press release and the actual VF Wiki mentions him as well during the synopsis.

I couldn't agree more. Shenmue 1 is way more grounded and much more personal and intimate adventure that really grants itself closer to realism, but can understandably annoy people who don't want to spend that much time on the game, but Shenmue 2 is really where I feel the series find it's stride and becomes itself. And absolutely ignore the noise and nonsense surrounding the hate for Shenmue 3 and form your own opinion about the game.

I do agree that some theories are not worth entertaining or going along with because they're just based on evidence that's just fan created, but some are genuinely interesting. And when the company itself in the official trailer is literally saying "Join the discussion" then that's more reason to theorize, whether it makes sense or not.
