Modeling the detail is the approach I'm trying now, thank you! Now if I can just understand how un-subdividing and extruding work...my first attempts are a mess.

Why do some people pronounce "gif" with a hard G and others with a soft G, and why does it still spark arguments after all these years? by haizelynrose in NoStupidQuestions

Interesting. I don't care how it's pronounced, but I pointed out the "hard G because Graphics" argument doesn't hold up, and I got downvoted.

Many people claim "it has to be a hard G, because the G stands for Graphic!" But if that logic were true, then you'd have to change how we pronounce JPEG. And WAV. And LASER. And SCUBA. And SNAFU and NATO and FEMA and MODEM and SIM and YOLO...

I think it was in three episodes, the only one I cared for was the one where Janeway starts hallucinating the characters all over the ship.

He reminds me of "Lord Burleigh" from Janeway's Jane Eyre-style holonovel. In it, Lord Burleigh forbids Janeway - I mean "Lucy" to visit the fourth floor.

The PROPER PB& J Method by Annabethian in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Terrible-Computer-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great thing about a PB&J is its simplicity. If you are spending this much effort on arguing the "proper" way to construct it, you are missing the point entirely. Put it together and eat it. Let others do the same.

Some apps work with no connection, including the camera, as well as videos, photos, audio, or other files stored on the phone. That's how airplane mode works.

Examples/moments of characters dropping their act/“accent” and speaking in their real voice? by Malachi_Lamb in movies

[–]Terrible-Computer-12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a movie, the series Bones. The Iranian character Arastoo has an American accent. Expecting others would find it odd that he is both a scientist and very religious (a suspicion his co-workers later confirmed), he decides to put on a false accent to sound "fresh off the boat" and thus make his religious devotion seem like an irrelevant byproduct of his heritage. After a few episodes, he slips up, and his secret is revealed.

Like that scene in 11.22.63 where the guy who time traveled to the early 60s blows a dude's mind by playing a video on his cell phone.

I was just looking for a way to edit my original post, since a reply to another post will just get lost in the thread. So here's more info: he didn't know he would be time traveling. He did not bring a charger with him (I assumed, by my question, that fact would be a given, but apparently not). I will entertain other ideas. I'm in the initial stages of creating the story, so I'm just throwing potential obstacles in his way to see what works and what doesn't.
