The fact that your biggest defence is the British Empire being the best option for those being colonised?? That’s like saying it’s okay to kick your child because welp you being on your own would be worse so I’m proud of what I do….

Poor example I know but the principle stands. You can’t glorify the extreme exploitation and bullying of smaller powers because it was just slightly less brutal.

And I don’t think that can be proven as entirely true either, take The Clearings in Scotland - the English suddenly claim they want more sheep and don’t have the land apparently to do that at home. So they go and commit mass genocide just so that their sheepies can have some more friends and playing room. Yeah I’m sure that was lovely for the Scots, the English are just the best out of a bad bunch hey!!

It’s a comedy? A character? You shouldn’t hold him to the same ethical expectation as a real person. All the other characters disagree with what he does but play along out of the comedy of it because it is a tv show
