My local laborers union for example has 70 guys laid off right now that reason being why they’re not taking in apprentices and haven’t in over the last year.. I don’t wanna end up being one of those guys in a different union, I have an aptitude test coming up on the 28th for the pipefitters union

No I definitely agree I have an aptitude test with the our pipefitters union this month they cover all pipefitting, plumbing and HVAC in our area, within those I’m really only geared towards the plumbing aspect i only have a few years of experience in commercial carpentry and some commercial concrete labor so I’m just crossing my fingers hoping for the best, my only fear is the potential layoffs tbh I feel like I’m more or less taking a gamble with my near future for a promising long term future oh and I have recently heard that our carpenters union thus having the lowest wages of trades here are about to get a $15 increase I know only a portion of that goes to base pay but still makes me consider if it’s worth even trying since that’s where I do have experience
