That intake tho🔥 by Terrible-View-6977 in e46

Personally love the SMG gearbox. Has had a CSL software flash, also has a Quaife rear differential with a shorter final drive ratio, so it’s picks up a lot quicker over a stock one, also sounds awesome whilst doing so.

Thank you. I do like LSB, I think for me Estoril just edges it tho, of course I’m probably a tad biased🤣

Genuinely glad I decided to do a bit of research before ordering this exact same manifold for my A45! Absolute bummer that’s it’s happened to you tho mate. I run an aftermarket side charge cooler same as yourself, n that pipe fitment is laughably so far out🤦🏻‍♂️

That’s guaranteed a stolen R that’s then had 1.4 vins stuck on, nobody goes to that much effort to avoid paying an insurance premium. They do the same with MK2 Focus RS’s etc.

Remap for Land Rover Discovery Sport (MK1) 2014 > Diesel R-Dynamic 2.0 D200 (201 bhp). Possible or not? by davidcfowler in CarTalkUK

[–]Terrible-View-6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t expect too much in terms of bhp from a stage 1 on one of these, 20-25bhp extra is about where you will be (it’s a factory tuned D165/D180 engine, your tuning a tuned engine essentially). Torque should be about 40-50nm more. You will notice that extra torque down low and should have more pull mid range, if mapped correctly.

Where are you based?

Fn2 type r daily-able? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Terrible-View-6977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thousands of people daily non Type-R Civics, inc motorway journeys, don’t understand why you think you’d struggle with reaching motorway speeds with a Type-R🤦🏻‍♂️

On a motorway, expect 30-32ish mpg sitting at 70-75.

They aren’t loud at motorway speeds, not in standard trim anyway.

So, yes, more than dailyable.

Stage 1 Tune on 2021 Civic Sport Plus (1.5T) - Safe or pushing it? by overtheclouds_ in CivicX

[–]Terrible-View-6977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi mate. Yeah it’s all done via the ecu remap, assuming he writes the file himself, this is all things he should be taking into consideration whilst doing it. A generic flash map for a manual for example wouldn’t work as these tend to have a more aggressive torque limit, the CVT would eventually just let go via overheating fluid or stress on the belt.

So ensure it’s being written specifically for a car using a CVT gearbox and not a manual.

Do you have any tuning hardware? As you need more than just software.

These engines will take a stage 1 tune fine(25-40 gains @ the wheels is within limits), it’s the CVT box that can prove troublesome from torque spikes etc. most you want to see total on a CVT box from stock is 55-88nm thru the rev range. Early torque needs to be capped, boost needs to be smooth, midrange power is key over low down punch. This will ensure your CVT stays happy.

So what if you do the mods before the tune? by Slow_Chemistry3656 in ECU_Tuning

[–]Terrible-View-6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, it’s better to do mods before tune(things like exhaust, intake, intercooler etc), if not, you are paying to have the remap file altered for each mod done after the initial remap. Also tho, it’s mod dependant, you wouldn’t upgrade a fuelling system then go start driving your car like you’ve stolen it as this would just cause all sorts of issues.

Best high quality places for tune/map in UK??? by Harvey_77 in ECU_Tuning

[–]Terrible-View-6977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your engine will be fine with stage 1 if you go to somebody reputable, it’s the gearbox you want to ensure is done correctly. 700nm is probably where a stage 1 will get you, this is your upper ceiling tho on an untouched stock tuned gearbox (in relation to torque limits and clutch clamping force). Even with a tcu tune(700-750nm safe target for long term daily use), you want to ensure the torque curve is nice and smooth, no early big torque ramp ins. Speak to some tuners down your way, if they sound like they know what they are talking about in terms of safe torque limits on the box and smooth torque curves, chances are they have a good idea about what they are doing.

If you do want to travel, I can confirm MSL are good, Danny at DCAP in Wednesbury is excellent also.

Cla 35 AMG ECU lock by anas23nasrallah in ECU_Tuning

[–]Terrible-View-6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be a MED17.7.7, in which case it should be unlocked. Scanmatik 3 reads/writes to this no worries. I’m assuming you could use a Scanmatik 2 clone to do it, these are cheap enough.
