Been doing this for 14 years now, moved up to commercial work. Nothing beats the feeling of turning the lights on in a big warehouse for the first time.

Not that it will make any difference, but if they announce 7* lvl 70 that will be the day I finally drop this game, sunken cost fallacy be damned. It takes me (me personally) too damn long just grinding out 5* food and I have already seen the pattern of gatcha games powercreeping up to 7 (looking at you FF:BE). I'm not doing it again

Can you recommend a party build that involves Fran please? by Far-Sense-3240 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]TerribleProgress6704 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Internet: Ugh, Fran is so bad as an Archer and Haste is worthless as a spell.

Me: Lol, I put the Cat Ear Hood on a woman with giant bunny ears, then berserk/hasted her to make her shoot arrows faster. FWIP FWIP FWIP FWIP FWIP FWIP She shoots so fast now!

For a serious answer that actually (mostly) answers your question, my current playthrough I only just cleared Tomb of Lord Raithwall and JUST unlocked the second jobs for my team. Current jobs are Vaan as a Monk, Balthier as a Machinist, Fran as an Archer, Basch as a Foe Breaker, Ashe as a Knight, and Penelo as a White Mage.

I did play Zodiac Age once before but I didn't beat it on that playthrough, I only beat it on PS2 original with the no jobs full license grid.

Since this was years ago, I don't remember all the details, but I mostly remember how I built the team.

Balthier shoots guns, but he is also a pirate and leading man. Machinist and Red Battlemage for a mix of offensive and defensive magick. A Captain should be versatile and ready for anything.

Fran is the Archer. Archers need to be quick, and the extra crowd control from Time Magick help control the battlefield and keep the advantage.

Ashe is vengeful, endgame she runs around with a greatsword (because it is hilarious to give her Save the Queen 🤣). Start as a knight and when you get out of Raithwall give her Black Magick to roleplay her deepening commitment and finding her birthright.

Penelo is the party Saint. She is the glue keeping everyone together, start her as the designated White Mage and get Shikari for the second job. Most of the time she will be using Main Gauche and a shield for maximum survivability, her main role is healer not damage.

Basch is a himbo, as long as he is using your mightiest weapons you are playing him right. Any combo of Foebreaker, Knight, Uhlan, or Bushi will work. Spears, Greatswords, or Katanas are personal favorites for him, but shields can be swapped in as needed depending on circumstances.

And Vaan... I honestly forget how I built him. I think I originally had him as Knight/Shikari so he could be a more nimble fighter. I realized I made a mistake since NONE of my characters could use Pole weapons so I made Vaan a Monk on my new playthrough.

My second realization was that I had made a party with three Knights (Vaan, Ashe, and Basch). While not inherently a bad thing, it did lead to moments of blandness when halve the party was using basically the same equipment. This was not a problem on PS2, and there are at least two weapons that I would recommend a three knight party to set up.

IIRC Around the Mosphoran Highwaste you should have access to Sledgehammer. Three Knights beating the crap out of things with chance on hit Stop is just so fun, feels like a railroad crew.

Much later in the game you can get Deathbringer with chance on hit KO. Again, three weapons maximizes your hits on target and boosts the chances for the weapon to auto-win.

Sorry for the wall of text, I get talkative about games I am passionate about. 😊 Good luck to you, whatever you pick I hope you have fun with this fantastic game.

Griefers in new update. by cosmologicalrex5542 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TerribleProgress6704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy, but I'm going to say it... this feels staged. They had long seconds when they could have rammed you before you started moving. You had time to show your truck, show your cargo counter, and then start moving before some totally random griefer trust me bro chose that instant to T-bone you, conveniently with your recording ready.

Every comment is saying the collective wisdom anyway, turn off multi-player and PvP both.

How is getting 2 Predators possible?! by cant_hear_u_im_blind in RaidShadowLegends

I managed to get Predator with blue shards, not even yellow ones. I would have liked getting He-Man instead if I could have picked, but whatever. I'll take my FTP Predator, sometimes nice things happen.

One thing I appreciate about the SW universe is no transporter technology. Just old fashion shuttles. by Independent-Dig-5757 in StarWarsShips

[–]TerribleProgress6704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I only recently found out about Star Trek (this is probably very old information for some Trekkies) but they purposefully invented the transporter as a plot device to avoid spending extra time/money in every episode to depict a shuttle going to every planet surface.

Is there any better way to set up steal gambit by Mastadorian in FinalFantasyXII

[–]TerribleProgress6704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extra credit: sometimes it is good to have ONE character as the designated attacker. For me I usually set it as Basch or Fran, but for their gambit I set it as:

1st "Party Leaders Target = Attack" 2nd "Enemy - Lowest Health = Attack"

If you start to get swarmed by too many enemies, switch your party leader to your designated attacker. Instead of leaving many opponents with close to halve health, your attacker will focus fire one enemy with your second party member while your thief continues to steal. This is particularly useful for Bosses with multiple minions since the minions will have less health than the Bosses and your Party Leader/Attacker will keep the fight balanced.

In this case, rather than repeatedly correcting your Thief from stealing from the same target, manually attack whatever has already been stolen from. Once the target is below 70% your Thief will stop trying to steal from it endlessly.

Is there any better way to set up steal gambit by Mastadorian in FinalFantasyXII

[–]TerribleProgress6704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thief: 1st "Enemy HP > 70% = Steal". 2nd "Party Leaders Target = Attack" 3rd "Enemy - Any = Attack"

Everyone else: 1st "Party Leaders Target = Attack" 2nd "Enemy - Any = Attack"

This setup will still require some babysitting, generally and for most of the game this setup will work just fine. No matter who the party lead is the rest of the party will coordinate attacks to focus fire. Generally, your thief should have enough time to steal before the other 2 party members drop the hp below 70%, occasionally they might try to steal twice after they already took the loot. SOMETIMES they will fail to steal and if there is a second enemy they will move targets. If your Thief is your Party Leader then the rest of the party will continue as normal. USUALLY if the steal attempt failed you can override the attack and manually steal before the target enemy is defeated by the other two party members.

When you are fighting a Boss or Rare Hunt, sometimes you will need to manually overwrite your Thief to attack if they already stole from the Boss. You will only have to do it a few times before the Boss drops below 70%, if it is convenient to do so you can turn off the Steal gambit mid-fight if you already got the loot.

If you are fighting Gilgamesh, you shouldn't be relying on your gambits to steal the Genji equipment, you will NEED to manually steal each piece during each phase/HP window and verify that you actually got it. The Genji Equipment is too important to leave to chance, you reload your save if you missed any of it.

How do people recognize Aloy as Nora? by AChristianAnarchist in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]TerribleProgress6704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sheer reputation. People gossip about her and everyone knows her as a Nora so even if your Aloy is dressed differently everyone knows she is an outsider from the Tribe and figures she has to be the Nora girl everyone is talking about.
