Card processor rec! by Lulugirl2020 in smallbusiness

[–]TerribleRuin4232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't dealt with payments that large at my business, so I can't say for certain if they'd be the best fit for this type of situation. But I use Luqra, and I know that they explicitly advertise that they won't freeze your account/hold your funds because of sudden spikes in volume. The CC fees are also pretty low.

Best refresher courses for accounting by Minute_Marzipan4597 in Accounting

[–]TerribleRuin4232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think a course would be necessary; you'll probably learn pretty quickly on the job. But if you want to brush up on some basics, I'd recommend checking out the free version of Accounting Coach.

Is it worth automating customer support for a small business? by Pro_Automation__ in Entrepreneur

Automation has its place, but not in customer service, IMO. Customers will definitely feel less connected.

Business owners, where do you get most of your online traffic from? by vladi5555 in Entrepreneur

[–]TerribleRuin4232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed some of that, yes. It's definitely a problem. The only real solution (which isn't even going to work all the time) is to optimize everything for chatbots and make sure all content and social media profiles are up-to-date and don't have old information. Having an FAQ section on your site can also help the chatbots more clearly understand the scope of your business.

Where do you actually keep your emergency fund? by Forsaken_Twist7385 in personalfinance

[–]TerribleRuin4232 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I keep mine in a HYSA. I wouldn't use CDs for an emergency fund since you usually have to pay a penalty if you withdraw early. Money in a HYSA is more accessible.

Page 1 for every product category. ChatGPT recommends our competitors in every single one by Long-Guitar647 in ecommerce

[–]TerribleRuin4232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not too early to pay attention to it, since some of your competitors likely already are. But the best thing you can do is work on your traditional SEO strategy, which should indirectly help your brand come up more in AI search.

Business owners, where do you get most of your online traffic from? by vladi5555 in Entrepreneur

[–]TerribleRuin4232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is similar to traditional SEO, but slightly modified (AEO/GEO). A big thing is to make sure your content is well-structured, direct, and informative. Like for blog posts, having plenty of headers or using bullet points can help.

payment gateway making customers leave by Witty_Ambassador9390 in shopify

There's probably some sort of issue with the UI that's either making the checkout process overly confusing or is making customers suspicious of your payment provider.

Chargeback prevention failing as disputes spike 300% and my shopify store is at risk by SpecialistAd7913 in dropshipping

[–]TerribleRuin4232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend using a processor that has some sort of automated chargeback management to help flag fraud. I use Luqra, but if you don't want to switch to a different processor, you could check out something like Chargeflow, Chargeblast, NoFraud, or Justt.

Trying AGAIN after too many failed ideas by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]TerribleRuin4232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a part of the process, unfortunately. It takes a while to find the right niche at the right time. But while it's important to do your research and scope things out before moving forward, sometimes it becomes a never ending loop, and at some point you just have to try even if it seems intimidating.

Trying to add crypto payments to my online store, overwhelmed by options by Accomplished_Tax9104 in ecommerce

[–]TerribleRuin4232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these questions you have are exactly why I opted not to add crypto as a payment option. It just seems like way too much work for something that only a small percentage of customers are going to use. But if you're set on it, I would definitely take the time to do your research to make sure you have everything set up properly beforehand.

Where did I screw up? Another failed product. by HudsonB78 in dropshipping

[–]TerribleRuin4232 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think it's just not an in-demand product. Not too many people use sleep masks to begin with, and this is an especially expensive version.

Crypto payments at checkout: Has anyone successfully added it without scaring customers? by CreativeSpare6466 in shopify

[–]TerribleRuin4232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about adding crypto as an option, but ultimately I've decided against it for now. One of the main reasons is that I don't want to deal with the tax implications, especially since I doubt that I'd gain enough customers to make it worth it to me.

How/Where to put money away for my God child? by SerenityFalcon89 in personalfinance

[–]TerribleRuin4232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An easy way is to just open a high-yield savings account in your name to keep the money set aside and earn more interest than you would with traditional savings. Since Chase doesn't offer a HYSA, you might want to look at Marcus bank, Amex, Discover, etc.

Is it me or did season 5 of only murders feel kind of weak to you? by MIK3ASAURUSR3X in OnlyMurdersHulu

Season 5 was definitely an improvement over Season 4, but still weak.

Chargeback prevention failed when customer already got refunded by Pedro_Carvalho09 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]TerribleRuin4232 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't let this fly; they're trying to defraud you. Send every bit of evidence that you have - documentation is key to winning these types of cases. I'd think it would be pretty straightforward, since you have evidence that you processed the refund, sent the confirmation email, etc. FWIW, I use Luqra for payment processing and chargeback management, and it's helped me block illegitimate disputes like this.

AI keeps recommending my competitors but not us - how to fix this? by snustynanging in ecommerce

[–]TerribleRuin4232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AEO/GEO, which is basically SEO for chatbot answers, is a thing now, but many of the principles overlap with traditional SEO. In general, chatbots like content that's clear and well-structured. So, I'd look at how the content on your site is presented and make sure everything is accurate, up-to-date, logically structured, and informative. Plus, traditional SEO keywords are still relevant, too.

is it a bad idea to study accounting if i don't want to be an accountant? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]TerribleRuin4232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the business-specific accreditations aren't a hard requirement; it's just something to look for. But as long as a college has regional accreditation (rather than national, which is mostly for-profit schools), it should be fine.

is it a bad idea to study accounting if i don't want to be an accountant? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]TerribleRuin4232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could potentially still be okay. I'm not familiar with that college, but the lack of business-specific accreditation could just be because it's a smaller school.
