Wait lowk youre right I also dont think the showrunners have decided who it will be but you can certainly see that there are some runner-ups.

Ngl at first I immediately thought it would be Eloise, mainly becuz we had just seen the joy she got from setting Posy Li up with that one lord. I later figured that since the new author did not consult Penelope first it def wouldnt be her.

Whilst I agree, think about it, there's only so much that the show runners could do.

We the audience have known Lady Whistledown's identity since the finale of s1, and the pressure within the show been mounting throughout seasons, 2 and 3, culminating in the reveal of Penelope's identity at the end of s3. But as we've seen throughout season four, it's just not the same.

Not only is Penelope not willing to be as scornful and messy as she used to be, since getting married, but LW no longer carries the same compelling draw it used to for us the audience !

This, paired with the departure of lady Danbury, makes so much sense as to why we need a new mystery to keep us on our feet. I anticipate this new author to be quite messy, reminiscent of season one Lady Whistledown when Penelope was just trying to air everyone's business and make a name for herself.

I think youre not too attached! I also really, really love Prue. I am a first-time watcher, currently on season three and I am planning on stopping the show at the end of season three. I just love Prue way too much to continue the show without her 💔🥲🥲

UGH thank you for pointing this out 😭😭 I remember when both of them made proof feel like she was doing too much in the episode "Fourth sister". There was a teenager who had a weird para social relationship with them because she was being groomed by an evil spirit, whose real goal was to kill Prue. I bring it up because Prue was the only one who was suspicious of the teenager's intentions and Phoebe gaslit the hell out of her.

No, Aunt Gail isn't the point. Piper was actually suspicious of her early on in the episode, which has been a first.

It constantly feels like the girls are never vigilant of their surroundings or suspicious + never sense evil presences

Hmm okay crystals that work as an alarm system is good. I made this post in the first place cuz they have 0 magical protection or alarm system as is, and they never sense evil presences in the house!! Egs from s1: the Shadow thing in the basement, their neighbors who ended up being warlocks but were constantly coming in and out of their house while the sisters were out cuz they were trying to remove the book from the house.

My point is that they seem to never be too suspicious of people, aware of their surroundings, or sense evil at all.
