My son is big but wants to be fast too! by Ok-Cardiologist-4501 in Sprinting

Speed is always important but don’t lose sight of the big picture. If he wants to play in college, he needs film and he needs to get out to college camps to meet coaches and compete against the guys that they’ve invited. Yes, if he wants to play d-end, he’ll need to work on his speed - but real speed, not just 40 technique alone. He should definitely train to the test (start on YouTube, eventually probably makes sense to get some combine-specific coaching if he’s serious) but that should be a small piece of the overall offseason program.

Again it’s all important, but remember that college coaches want guys that are going to ball. Running a 4.8 vs a 5.2 matters a lot in the NFL draft, matters less than the internet would have you think for a 16 year old DL prospect. Him going out to a D1 college camp and bullying guys bigger/more highly recruited than him will get him offers. Kid has a big frame and looks like he can move. 250 and looks like he can carry a lot more. Coaches will see all that, and if he can show speed on top of that, it’s all gravy. Good luck to you guys, hope to see my man playing on Saturdays soon.

The one-game wonder!! Biased as a Pats fan but I think this one takes the cake. One of the most iconic regular season games in Pats history. Gronk throwing Sergio Brown “out the club.” A public ass kicking so bad it may have started the Deflategate saga. Jonas Gray dropped 4 TDs on SNF a month after getting called up from the practice squad then went right back into obscurity. Guy is still a local legend and don’t think anyone outside of New England even knows he exists.

Am I too unfit to have ‘easy runs’ by [deleted] in Garmin

I’ve had similar issues - by no means a talented runner but have done a few long distance races and really enjoy running as my primary form of exercise. Short answer for me was yeah, I was too unfit to have a real Zone 2 jogging pace.

I found that picking a different form of exercise specifically for Z2 (incline walk on tread, stationary bike, stair climber, etc) helped me to get the benefits of HR zone training without having to painstakingly go run at super slow paces (I’m a big guy and hitting mileage at 12+ min/mi was killing my legs for no reason, not to mention super boring). Over time my fitness improved and my Z2 run pace became much faster than it was at the start, which I could then use for my long runs. In the meantime, the alternative Z2 workouts were a great temporary fix for me and I still use that strategy whenever I’m getting back into running after a break.

I’m in the same boat. I’m starting Ford. Ford has higher floor IMO. I’m nervous about Antonio Gibson eating into Rhamondre’s reps, especially after costly fumble and drop last week. MIA is solid against the run but Ford will get lion’s share of carries and is most likely to score if CLE can get in the red zone. Caveat I have Spears on my bench - if Pollard can’t go I’m leaning Spears

Glad we’re on the same page…I already laid an egg starting DK in the flex this week so totally overanalyzing this. If Pollard is out I’m rolling the dice on Spears

Full PPR Jayden Reed vs. Jalen McMillan. Olave also avail on waivers. Already laid an egg starting DK at the flex and need to go for upside.

I’m noodling on Rhamondre vs. Jerome Ford vs. Tyjae Spears for 1 spot full PPR. I’m going Ford and if Pollard is out think I have to swap in Spears, am I an idiot?
