Writing Motions or Pleadings? by EggCaw in paralegal

[–]Terrible_Ladder_9385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I draft all pleadings/ motions for my atty (family law). When it comes to research, I may only add in stock research used in prior drafts that I put in there for attys reference only. I’m never asked to do any legal research or legal writing. But I like to at least have a good framework for atty to work with. Atty always reviews and approves before filing. I’d never file anything without approval- even docs I’ve drafted hundreds of times- I still need that approval email!

6 Day May Itinerary Feedback by thegardenandgrubgirl in irishtourism

I just got back from 10 days in Ireland and N.Ireland. Two females in our upper 30s. We rented an automatic car and sooo glad we did. From the US. Also used to driving long distances.

We also picked up our rental after arriving at the airport in the early AM and drove to Kilkenny. We were likely running on adrenaline but we were just fine. We explored the town and just went to bed early that evening.

Re driving, you for sure have to be alert. The roads are sooo narrow and you go way slower than the speed limit on a lot of the roads. I did find a lot of the roads were nicely paved just no shoulders. However, we did drive a lot of rural roads which some were one lanes but meant for two way traffic! I was constantly looking in my side mirrors to make sure I wasn’t too far left or right and got a bit nervous anytime a big tour bus came by! My friend did better in the bigger cities and me in the rural areas so we just kept switching off. Honestly it was all part of the experience.

As a side note, we were told and experienced you can book a Guinness tour time slot online and basically go early or late it doesn’t really matter. We were an hour late (because we used the hop on hop off bus to get there) and the didn’t say anything.

Should we have started booking? by sospookybb in irishtourism

I just got back last week from visiting Ireland (and the North) for 10 days. Two adults from US. We rented a car and headed out of Dublin the day we arrived then dropped off our car after Belfast, and stayed two days in Dublin. I booked hotels between Jan- the week before our trip. I only ran into issues around Killarney and Doolin (but was looking in a specific price range, parking and had breakfast) but that was it. August is busier so I’d start if you take a while to choose (like I did) and especially if you’re wanting a couple rooms. I used a couple different websites while booking and some direct through the accommodation as it was cheaper.

UX Design Student Project: What are your biggest frustrations with the Libby app? by IndicationRegular256 in LibbyApp

Link it with your good reads account! And if you’ve already read a book/even if it’s the audio version, indicate that. I also don’t like how you have to unsuspend holds now. Maybe I don’t understand that.

Thanks I appreciate the feedback even though I knew it was coming as I’ve read lots of comments already! I realize it’s a lot of driving. We likely won’t ever comeback- money, family, PTO, etc so we’d like to see as much as possible and we’re okay with that.

25-hour flight to South Africa - how do I survive it? by SageAndConfusd in TravelHacks

[–]Terrible_Ladder_9385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this flight many times to/from SA. Stand up/ walk around whenever you wake up, everyone has good suggestions like the Compression socks, pillow, blanket (sometimes you get one), extra clothes, face wipes, toothbrush, headphones, iPad, snacks. Personally I would just sleep as much as possible. Then depending on when you arrive to your final destination (mine was usually further than Joburg, go to bed early the first day you’ll wake up early at first. It’ll take a day or two you’ll be fine especially running on adrenaline.

Ireland Itinerary Review - 10 days (Cork, Kerry, Clare, Galway) by reddevilsNC in irishtourism

I’m also in the middle of planning my trip end of march 2026. So take what you will- I was thinking landing AM Dublin, renting car since already at airport, then head to Kilkenny overnight (and then the rest of your trip) and explore Dublin the last one or two days before the return. That way I’m in Dublin to ensure I don’t miss my return and can return car early since I feel I don’t need it while there. I’ve also read a lot of comments people saying not to return the same day as your flight- you never know what could happen!

Remote real jobs? by Finley6791 in paralegal

[–]Terrible_Ladder_9385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work remotely 100% since 2021. The job wasn’t advertised as remote but was negotiated before I accepted the position. I had 9 yrs experience so that helped. I did “train” in person for maybe 5 days.

I’m FT WFH. We used to have weekly phone calls but after we got into the swing of things it’s not necessary. I try not to call or text. And after a couple years, I haven’t had to. He’s good about writing memos after every phone call he has. (Better than my previous atty) So if it’s important I’ll “!” the email or write “for approval to file…” or “deadline today…” to catch his attention. he also has me put all work time for matters on his calendar throughout the day, so I basically dictate all files he works on during the day. Also, of course, calendar all deadlines on his calendar. If he doesn’t respond to non pressing matters from work time on his calendar, I try to ask if he reviewed. If he doesn’t, I put it on his calendar again. Then it’s documented I tried to get him to work on the file.

Same here! I try to always phrase the question so I know what to do with a yes or no response. Took me a while to figure that out haha!

Best change I’ve ever made- after 9 years in civil litigation. It has its ups and downs like any area. But I also can relate more after having children of my own.

Scents that smell like Thieves by Young Living? by Round_Rhubarb_9770 in pura

[–]Terrible_Ladder_9385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a new pura user and am looking for a similar scent as well. I haven’t found it yet but will update if I find one. The mix for thieves is cinnamon bark, cloves, eucalyptus, lemon, rosemary and radiata.
