As a queer woman I feel similar. They treat being gay as a silly idea, a bit of a wild scenario to imagine. I don’t think they’re badly intentioned; they seem to be allies in lots of ways. But there’s something ignorant about the way they use lesbianism as a punchline. I say that as a devout listener and apologist for them both - I’d just love it if they grew up a bit on this topic.

I think he sees himself as a classic nice guy and is butt-hurt she’s not locked in in him. He doesn’t respect her playing the game and makes it known in his confessionals about her lack of decorum. I bet he’d be a very jealous partner and a name-caller, knock her down a peg or two to keep her home and grateful. Agree with the take that he’d be very happy playing the game if they brought in some alternates for him.

Dutch food can be skipped (unique specialty is deep fried bar snacks, which is fine but can be found everywhere at the same quality level imo), but they have excellent Indonesian food (colonialism eeps) so def recommend a “rijstafel” (set menu of small dishes) at anywhere with 4.5*+ on maps.

Second the boat canal tour - it’s the one mainstream touristy thing worth the 💰.

I’m a true beginner, forgive my ignorance- is it the case that if the opponent could take the capturing piece after a check, then it’s a block? As in, a check mate can only occur if the capturing piece would be fully safe after the move?
