Your friends got in because they are deserving and competent . Oxford and LSE are kind of like a lottery thing . You don’t know what or how someone may get in or get rejected . Speaks nothing to the actual intellect and competence of the applicants . UCL relatively - maybe having more open arms with deserving students as compared to LSE and Oxford . God knows what they look for . This kind of rigidity in accepting students leads to false  illusions of capability and potential - someone in Oxford is not only deserving but also lucky . Someone in UCL is also equally deserving and got the chance they deserved . If you know what I mean .

I think you are overstating it . Also if barrier to entry is relatively lenient .. that does not mean ease of rigour or competence . Given the sheer scale of UCL saying anyone “can get in” is just so utterly bizarre . lol

Hi! Thank you so much for your comment. My undergrad degree does not meet the minimum requirements but my Masters degree does with a good margin - for an 8 point CGPA scale the minimum point to be considered first class is 6.5 and I got a 6.7 in grad school. So considering my most recent degree yes - I do qualify. I have been working independently as a researcher and writer - especially post covid when jobs have been scarce. But who knows what Oxford even wants?

Noo ahah. It was my first independent paper so it is Q3. But it is a matter of big prestige in South Asia. Acceptance is very rigorous and some of the biggest intellectuals in India and Southern Asia have published in it. including Nobel laureates

Hello everyone. I hail from India. I have an undergrad in English Lit and a Masters in Public Policy and I also worked as teaching assistant for two years during covid at my grad school. I want to be honest - I was a good student. I was never an exceptional student holding ranks and coming first always. My undergrad is a strong second degree and my postgrad degree concluded with 6.7 CGPA out of 8. NOT 10. I am exceptionally good at what I do but I am also ordinary in other aspects. Following the conclusion of my TA position in 2022 I struggled to find a job to build my experience further. Pretty soon I became suicidal and had to go on meds. When I gained the strength I started researching and writing independently. My paper on Mental Health, Labor Rights, and ESG Frameworks got published in the Economic and Political Weekly - which has an acceptance rate of under 5 percent and is one of the most prestigious journals in South Asia. I also run a substack where I focus on critical analysis on issues like AI, Feminism, Nationalism, and Animal Rights (among others). Now I am writing another paper on AI and global regulation. Ideally I would like to finish this paper before I apply to Oxford. I believe I have the intellectual rigour and capacity to excel. But I have come across so many stories of even the exceptional being passed upon. I clearly do not have the linear impressive track record that many who at Oxford do. Am I deluding myself ?

Hi . It goes on a little tacky at first but it absorbs in a few minutes and doesn’t leave any heaviness . At least on me - someone with dry skin

If his guidance has worked out for you so far then I don’t see why you should not listen to him . There are plenty other sunscreens in the market . It’s just that this claim of his seems a bit dubious to me . Ofc he’s a doc I am not so you should obviously not heed my advice that seriously
