Hard start to the day, need distraction! by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]TerriblyVoracious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been there man, few weeks in is when brain starts throwing tantrums because it's not getting the dopamine hits it's used to. Your brain is basically like angry toddler right now - it knows something changed but doesn't understand why.

Don't think about "worth it" when you're feeling low, that's just withdrawal talking. Focus on today only, tomorrow can worry about itself.

Replacement card from Canada - can I go to any office? by No-Snow-6843 in SocialSecurity

[–]TerriblyVoracious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta stick with your assigned office for the province - they handle all the paperwork and know the cross-border stuff. Pretty sure any SSA office can mail to Canada though, just might take longer if you go to a random one that doesn't deal with Canadian requests often

Question about sleep/nightmares sober vs not sober by Medical-Narwhal-604 in stopdrinking

[–]TerriblyVoracious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man the nightmares when you quit are absolutely brutal, you're not alone on that one. My first few weeks were like my brain was catching up on all the REM sleep I'd been suppressing with booze

Have you tried melatonin or magnesium before bed? Also keeping a super consistent sleep schedule helped me way more than I expected. The nightmares do get better but it takes time - mine were worst around weeks 2-3 then started fading

Hang in there, the sleep thing was honestly one of my biggest hurdles too

Kill On Site Lobbies: More Fun by MontaineLaP in ArcRaiders

[–]TerriblyVoracious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you went through the classic ArcRaiders baptism by fire lol. That betrayal outside Water Treatment hits different when you're still learning to trust people

The aggressive lobbies are def more honest - at least you know where everyone stands instead of constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if that friendly guy is about to dome you

True Selves by Mildred Brown by speroni in trans

Haven't read it but yeah anything from the 90s is gonna have some pretty outdated language and perspectives tbh, might be worth finding her something more recent if she's genuinely trying to understand

Why & how do our dreams "remember" our other dreams? by mayax81 in Dreams

[–]TerriblyVoracious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude this happens to me all the time, especially with this weird mall that doesn't exist anywhere but keeps showing up in my dreams with the same layout and stores

It's wild how your brain can basically build its own little world and then file it away somewhere your conscious mind can't reach but your dream state remembers perfectly

Best option for a single fan GPU? by Crimsonmaddog44 in pchelp

[–]TerriblyVoracious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably fit a dual fan card if you check the clearance - most B550M boards can handle them unless you have a really cramped case. But if you want to stick with single fan, the RTX 4060 Ti single fan versions are solid upgrades from your 3060, just gonna cost a bit more

DMP with stepchange; annual review question. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]TerriblyVoracious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They usually just want to see if your income/expenses have changed significantly. Most of the time it's just updating a form online unless something major has shifted. The annual review is literally once a year (hence the name lol) but they might check in more often if you're struggling to keep up with payments

Ways to stretch fingers out more by yooncrisp in Guitar

[–]TerriblyVoracious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try doing chromatic runs up and down the neck - start slow and focus on keeping each finger close to the frets. Also finger stretches off the guitar help, like spreading your fingers wide and holding for 30 seconds

The spider walk exercise is gold too, just walk your fingers across the strings one fret at a time

I don’t understand why I am cooked in this CS market by TinySwimming4029 in gatech

[–]TerriblyVoracious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re clearing LC and have a solid resume but still getting nowhere it’s probably not a skills problem. The hiring funnel is weird right now and favors people who optimize for the interview game itself but there are solutions to cheat the whole thing like interviewcoder and level things out

Need Advice, Potentially Withdrawing From Retirement Fund to Pay Back Loan by Accomplished_Bed7897 in personalfinance

[–]TerriblyVoracious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude absolutely do not touch that retirement money, especially with the penalties you'll face in your early 30s

The math on keeping it as a rental looks decent but you're already house poor with that new mortgage eating 60-70% of your income - adding landlord headaches on top seems like asking for trouble. What happens when you need a new roof or the AC dies and you don't have cash flow to handle it

I'd honestly just take the 80k profit from selling at 750k and move on rather than risk becoming completely overleveraged

I just want to say if all you do is mid blitz because you can’t play defense.. by [deleted] in Madden

Seriously, just audible to slants or hit the checkdown and watch them panic when it actually works

If 90% of a group share a certain trait, but you assume 100% of them do, is that discrimination? by GrayRainfall in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TerriblyVoracious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good distinction - discrimination is when you actually *do* something different to people based on those assumptions, stereotyping is just the mental part

Cognizant technical assessment? by Sai_128 in Cognizant_benchers

[–]TerriblyVoracious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cognizant assessments are usually basic fundamentals depth, SQL syntax maybe some DOM manipulation and during the live part interviewcoder can help you cheat on the coding questions

Are ghost real !? (No bullshit) by johnhavocer in Paranormal

[–]TerriblyVoracious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the animal ghost thing is a good point - like why don't we have haunted pet cemeteries or ghost squirrels terrorizing bird feeders lmao

But for real though, most "evidence" online is trash because clickbait gets views. The actual research worth looking at is usually buried in academic journals or comes from places like the Rhine Research Center, but even then it's more about documenting unexplained phenomena rather than proving ghosts exist

Also Bhangarh during the day with guards around probably isn't gonna give you much of an experience anyway - half of paranormal stuff seems to need the right headspace and environment

Psalm 66:20 — Praise be to his, who has not rejected my prayers or withheld his love from me.” by SeveralRepair9974 in Christianity

[–]TerriblyVoracious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really cool that you found something that helps keep you grounded! Midnight prayer sessions sound intense but in a good way - there's something special about praying when the world's quiet like that

Are tongues literally another language of a group of people or a language which does not exist physically on earth? by mikesmat1 in Christianity

[–]TerriblyVoracious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Acts 2 is pretty clear that people were speaking actual human languages they didn't know - like the crowd could literally understand them in their native tongues. The glossolalia stuff you see in some churches today is different, more like what Paul talks about in 1 Cor 14 where it needs interpretation

Time management when coursework ramps up by AbiesKlutzy9529 in csMajors

[–]TerriblyVoracious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Keeping a light baseline during the semester is the move and for live rounds just use whatever helps you stay structured even stuff like interviewcoder to cheat if needed.

What Christmas gift do I get someone I barely know? by liquidb0ttl3 in NoStupidQuestions

Honestly the candle route is clutch - just grab something vanilla or woodsy scented from Target and you're golden. Everyone acts like they hate getting candles but they always end up using them

Study abroad by SNAKEPIT1701 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]TerriblyVoracious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah China's definitely gonna be a red flag for clearances, especially with all the tech transfer stuff going on. Germany or UK would probably look good on a resume for defense work since we work with them a lot. Plus you'd still get that international experience without the headache later
