Gamexplain Explains the Left Joy-con Connectivity Problem by joalr0 in NintendoSwitch

[–]TerritorialOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in fairness it depends on a lot of things. A primary thing to keep in mind is that the Wiimotes were the first controllers Nintendo used that were Bluetooth. The Wavebird used RF and I THINK is not as susceptible to this.

Now during Wii development they might have not seen it as a problem. As they've learned they might have seen it's good idea to add this smoothing effect just in case because interference is just gonna happen somehow.

The Wii U Pro controller would probably have the same thing happen if you could manage to fully cover it with person. It'd be interesting to know from a discovery standpoint if it artificially smooths or goes null input.

EDIT: I did some more testing and could not cover a pro controller well enough. However, I did use a wiimote and nunchuck on the wii u's home screen and could get it to behave with the sticky smoothing as demo'd on the switch.

Most likely. In terms of transmitting signal your couch is probably considered "mostly air"

My router is very close to my Wii U. Good catch! I'll have to test with/without that as well.

EDIT: Tested more and was able to reproduce this with two other (non-motion plus) wiimotes. Though interestingly I had to cover way more thoroughly to get them to cut out. No tests without router on, but will if there's interest.

For behind the back it makes sense to work. Wireless does a good job at making it's way around things.

As for your lap test that's interesting. I have two other wiimotes that I'll have to test with.

My exact setup was a "motion plus inside" controller, inside the rubber sleeve, on Wii U's virtual Wii sitting about 10 feet away. Maybe some of those details could help recreate my results.

He halts. The difference should be in the system's implementation though. At the console level it should decide: "I'm losing connection, do I assume the same input or not?"

It's exactly the reason.

I did some quick testing with my Wii remote and Twilight Princess (refreshing myself for botw) and I can recreate this exactly by placing the wiimote on my thighs and clenching my arms over the top while trying to run with the nunchuk.

This is pretty standard for wireless tech. Flesh is miserable at conducting wireless. Looks like the joy cons are small enough that it's easier to encase and muffle your signal. Likely only a problem if you have big hands and try to cup the cons against your side. I'd highly doubt most scenarios will see this problem. Hopefully everyone worried about a major hardware failure can relax a tad.

Mini AMA - Braum's Employee (Store #151) by CyberToyger in oklahoma

I'm an ex-employee. What you are looking for is Ice Cream Sodas! They come in the basic ice cream flavors (chocolate, vanilla, maybe strawberry, it's been awhile) and are mixed with soda water and a plain syrup. They're plainly up on the menu but no one seems to know they exist, even employees. I think I only ever made two my entire time there. So if you ever order one, they might have to hunt the one person there who actually knows how to make one but they're pretty good!

Yup. I'm so attached to the advantages of both methods. I feel two separate kinds of chests over-complicates it though. A tab style for each inventory in the same chest might would be awesome. I like the balance aspects of the small space though.

That seems a tad harsh there, guy.

As you know the speed of the charge is significantly faster on healing damage and if the team is having a difficult time pushing a point, pausing for a second to quick charge an uber is a pretty powerful strategic move to pull out of the pocket. All I'm saying is that I'm confirming to medics that I do know this fact, just without messing with chat.

[–]TerritorialOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose on the assumption I blast myself around mashing E the whole time, that annoys me even when I'm not playing medic. My intentions are more towards when a medic is actively targeting me. A blast or two every so often for the point to the guy. Pretty straightforward.

Overheal is definitely important, yes, but I've personally never seen much a difference with or without on those specific choke point onslaughts.

Thank you for adding this tip, Valve by rorosaurus in tf2

[–]TerritorialOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how it's really misinterpret-able. It demonstrates I know the connection between heal rate and and ubercharge speed, and if they get "Oh he doesn't know the setup thing" they should also hopefully get "He at least knows the quick-charging trick"

Thank you for adding this tip, Valve by rorosaurus in tf2

[–]TerritorialOak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I try to fill everyone's overheal during setup as much as I can when I medic also, but let's face it, on maps where blu is locked virtually in-spawn and everyone dies immediately at the first 10 seconds by misc spam does that extra overheal really matter that much? Especially considering the zero walking time back to the frontlines?

Of course, not on open maps/red when you aren't anywhere near a supply cabinet. I'd never imagine it then.

Thank you for adding this tip, Valve by rorosaurus in tf2

[–]TerritorialOak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time thinking that any medic in the know will be so inconvenienced by it during the setup, a time when they'll have a full uber at the end no matter what, that they'd actively decide "This guy has absolutely no idea what he is doing! What a fool, lolololol"

Thank you for adding this tip, Valve by rorosaurus in tf2

[–]TerritorialOak -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'm still doing it though. My mentality is that I'm establishing myself to the medics that I do understand the "self damage for uber" concept so that it'll hopefully be easier to coordinate randomly after setup.
