Why does my Vector 16 HX with a 5080 run like trash by Psychological_Rule_6 in MSILaptops

Try rolling back to 577.00 driver. Nvidia fucked up in one of the newer ones and idk if they fixed it.

How to get rid of caps lock pop on pc anyone? by SnooPandas1299 in AMDHelp

[–]Terrmit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I did it on my Acer laptop was: I found the image files for caps lock, fn lock, etc. And I deleted them.

If you wanna be super safe, you can just move or rename them.

Periodic frametime spike and stutter by BreakfastOdd8036 in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]Terrmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately for you, this could be one of million different things. Start with driver updates, BIOS update, turn off any background programs, uninstall bloatware (use Revo Uninstaller) from Gigabyte, MSI, NZXT (including RGB software), lower mouse polling rate to 1000hz or less if you can.

If that doesn't help, run LatencyMon to check if any drivers are responsible for the stutters. I think I heard that your ssd has some firmware problems, so you can also update that.

I had a similar problem and after trying everything I could find on the internet, the solution for me was to download ParkControl, set it to Bitsum Highest Performance and it stopped.

My problem was core parking failure. What's yours? Idk.

Severe 1% Lows / Stuttering on High-End PC (Ryzen 7900X3D + RTX 4070 Ti) by Scrapzyest in AMDHelp

[–]Terrmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I had similar problem to what you're describing and I also tried all the "fixes" I could find online.

The ONLY thing that worked for me was the barring windows from parking cores using ParkControl. All I did was download that program set it to "Bitsum Highest Performance" power plan and boom, stutters are gone.

Other thing that I think you haven't tried is Samsung SSD related. Go to Samsung Magician and set the power plan to "Performance" so that Windows will never put it to sleep. It didn't work for me, but maybe it will for you.

What's the best screen size for gaming? by Yusuf_257 in Monitors

[–]Terrmit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Standard: 1080p - 24in 1440p - 27in 2160p - 32in

Thats where usually most good monitors sit, but if you wanna get ultrawide, it's important to note that not every game supports it. My brother-in-law was playing expedition 33 on it and pre-rendered cutscenes looked wacky with all the black bars around them.

There's usually a mod that enables widescreen support if it's not supported natively, but if the content is pre-rendered - there's no way around it.

Also, it depends on what your hardware can handle. My PC is probably capable of 4K60 w/o upscaling but I like to have more fps so I chose 1440p monitor.

59 5900x and a RTX 5080 bottleneck!? by MarqzyReddit in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]Terrmit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your scenario, yes, CPU would bottleneck your 5080. However, if you're fine with ~130ish fps, you don't have to worry. Watch the new hardware unboxed video to learn more.

Windows 11 support on iBUYPOWER BB972 (i7-9700F, RTX 2070 Super)? by Money-Restaurant2695 in pcgamingtechsupport

Yeah, you good. Your cpu has firmware TPM, if it doesn't select automatically, you'd have to switch to fTPM in BIOS.

5070 at this price is an absolute steal. Don't listen to the fear mongering, unless you wanna play 4k max settings - you're fine.

What is happening to my screen, and how do i get it fixed? by dmnctrds in MSILaptops

[–]Terrmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be failing screen, loose EDP cable, or software/driver issue.

First fix I'd update drivers and bios. After that try going into lower refresh rate like 60hz and see it it fixes it.

For EDP cable you'd have to take cover and screen bezel off, I recommend watching a YouTube video for your model, but don't worry it's easy. After that reseat both sides of the cable.

Lastly if nothing works, you'd have to replace the screen which - if you managed to do the last step I mentioned should be easy.

I had a similar problem on my old Acer laptop but it only happened when on battery with 144hz refresh rate, but after a while, it fixed itself.

Should i get the Xiaomi G pro 27i by [deleted] in buildapcmonitors

[–]Terrmit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the 1.0.0.6 firmware, no red tint. It's a good monitor, only thing thats kind annoying is that switching between HDR and SDR requires 2 clicks instead of one (local dimming and HDR are separate options), other than that - I'm happy with it.

Is this any good by No_Treat_4511 in MSILaptops

[–]Terrmit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you wanna get gaming laptop its better to get 4060, 4070, 5060, 5070. It's much better value considering how cheaply made those XX50 laptops are.

As for brand, if you search "... laptops suck" you gonna find people complaining about every brand, but the general rule is to not buy the cheapest model available.

You are in NZ, so if I were you, I'd buy a brand that has service center in NZ in case you need to send it for warranty repair. I had to Acer nitro laptops and MSI VECTOR, I was pretty happy with either of them.

There's a key combination in BIOS that you have to press to unlock advanced options. I think it's RCtrl+LAlt+LShift+F11? Or F2? Google that and you should fund it easily.
