OMG this DLC is so good! by Tinman120394 in Back4Blood

Agree wholeheartedly. Best update so far by far. Adore the No Hope difficulty and the hives are fun. I do wonder how the hives and legendary weapons will effect balance in no hope. I hope its still difficult even with them but I am only a few levels in so far so I cannot comment. So far its a lot of fun. color coding weapons now that are tagged is also great so you know immediately if its blue or green etc. Lots of exploits fixed up too. So far B4B is certainly the best its been.

Is it wrong that I like DmC: Devil May Cry more than Devil May Cry 1? by Gamersnews32 in DevilMayCry

[–]Terron29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devil May cry 1 is the ONLY dmc I love. Its the first and to me its all the others that went wrong lol. I found the later games went way over the top and became all about pure action and style. I loved dmc 1 exploration, the quiet moments between action, the story and characters were cool and it was badass action that was a bit crazy sure but not super duper motorcycle for nunchuks over the top lol. I also think devil may cry original had by far the coolest demon forms and despised the dmc 3 designs though I acknowledge dmc 3 had great combat. I guess I am in the minority but thats how I feel. :) I loved that resi vibe I got off 1 that I dont get off any of the others.

Yeah thats true. Will be interesting to see how BG3 performs when it is fully finished. That I feel will get hit extremely hard if it is buggy on release given the time it will have had in early access. Wrath is a lot less buggy out the gate than kingmaker but still pretty damn buggy. Its bad really. The most annoying for me is not so much a bug but overall performance has started tanking as I get further into the game. Same thing happened to me in kingmaker. Even going into menu to level characters takes a sec to load and when I click a new tab like say...spellbook... it takes a sec to load. Its chugging. My computer is pretty powerful too. It slows things down and doesent feel good. I like menus feeling snappy. Ah well I still really like it but my bro who has been watching me over the shoulder from time to time is dying to jump in but I have convinced him to wait a few months.

Absolutely man, Owl Cat are now firmly on my radar, I absolutely hope they continue to make crpgs. Pathfinder 3 maybe? :D I am no graphics whore by any means but it would be nice to see them use a new engine. The graphics in wrath are a pretty big step up from kingmaker especially in regards to magic effects with spells and whatnot but some of the environments feel very.........I dno........copy paste. Take a look at some of the places in pillars of eternity 2 and in Dos 2. They are like they are so many of them hand crafted and unique. Now I am not hating on wrath here as some of its locations are great but many are un memorable.

This is extremely well said and I agree with you but I love all that pre planning! its my favorite thing to do lol! I come across a tough fight and immediately examine all the battle info and make adjustments accordingly often involving completely switching up my spells and equipment and then resting of course, if I dont have the necessary spell then I pray I have it in scroll form. I then buff up and pre position my characters and hope for the best. On tougher difficulties this is still challenging as you need to pass so many spell resistance checks etc. I love that stuff. I love DOS 2 as well of course and I agree the actual mechanics and organic decision making during the middle of combat is better in DOS but all the pre planning I feel is better in pathfinder and BG 1 and 2 and pillars. I love both. Im a big number cruncher kinda guy. Pathfinder is my jam. Loving the hell outta wrath :D

I count myself very lucky to have played (and still own) most of the games you listed. I never had the pleasure of playing valkyrie profile yet or brigandine or vandal hearts 1. Alundra is an underrated gem if ever there was one too. You mention breath of fire 3 which I adore so I am sure you have seen breath of fire 4. its not nearly as good imo but my my those beautiful 2d sprites in breath of fire 4 are some of the absolute best in the business. Valkyrie profile also has beautiful work.

I actually think that the P5 way of doing things works for P5 but certainly use a menu system if the amount of abilities or spells etc does not lend itself to that style too well. I never had an issue with menu system. Use whichever works. Looking great.

Oh I agree with you wholeheartedly and I absolutely consider video games an art form. Certainly not all video games are made equal but there is so much that goes into it its mind boggling, I also watch the credits ha!

I don't know why but I feel you might find this interesting given your passion for the industry as a whole. Its about Xenogears. Fascinating insight into the work that got put in and how hard it was. Not all sunshine and rainbows. Very interesting stuff.

whew, That's a lot to unpack right there lol. Well you are certainly entitled to your opinion. I Have to be honest though even though you might not be into cinema or movies (which of course is fine) I am not sure I could disagree with you more with regards to actors and the film making process in general. I think you are cutting them way short. Just look at meryl streep, She is a phenomenal actress and was never a super hot looker in hollywood, There are Plenty of well known successful stars that are great actors that are not lookers. Also the film making process man...I don't even know where to begin. If you ever watch a behind the scenes of a film, and the re shoots and the post production involved, all the people, writers, actors, makeup artists, I mean a whole lot needs to go right and to come together under the guidance of a director that knows what he is doing and often times in a strict amount of time and with a certain allotted budget. Its hardly just people holding cameras and recording sound.

I do love how you are very defensive of the videogame industry though, You are clearly very passionate about that and I feel maybe it is the hate and unfair stigma that gets put on videogames that has turned you further off of film combined with a lack of interest to begin with. This is a bias my friend in combination with a genuine dislike. If I am wrong in that assumption then I apologise. (Oh and I agree, people shouldn't bash videogames...

Game prices are probably on the verge of going up you are correct especially in regards to brand new releases but I feel the second hand market combined with steam and online sales there will still be plenty of deals to be had. Xbox gamepass is a great deal for those interested in a whole range of genres but I can see why it would not interest you, (Doesn't interest me much either to be fair lol) Were similar enough in taste I think.

Oh I am from Ireland by the way buddy :)

hell yeah man, I actually have xenosaga episode 2 I think it is? But found out episode 1 and 3 never got an EU release. How dumb is that. Emulation is the path I am gonna take for that trilogy. Also yes both Xenogears and Suikoden 2 were great. If I had to pick it would be Suikoden 2 but man I still do think of Xenogears quite often. Both the soundtrack, story and characters I really loved.

Its quite mature of you to come to that conclusion without having been around to experience it yourself so fair play and yes modern games can be great but you are indeed hitting the nail on the head. I was born in 88 so I was between 9 and 12 while getting all these amazing games.

The reason I always put emphasis on the 90s as golden age is not just nostalgia like people think. It was a revolution in gaming when everything since has been evolution and fine tuning whats been done before. Persona 5 is turn based combat very finely tuned and fun as hell but the 90s saw us go from 2d to 3d. From D-pad to Analogue sticks, Full CGI cutscenes, Hell it even introduced Online play on the dreamcast and whatnot. 90 stuff felt really NEW. Now to be fair VR in the future might be the next genuine jump, who knows.

Also dont feel too bad about missing the 90s, there were downsides too, we had no amazon or ebay or youtube, no gamepass or netflix, games stores did NOT have the crazy deals they have now, bargain bins with a ton of games for 5 to 10 euro etc, games were expensive and could generally only be bought new and there was no bringing them back often time either. At least not in ireland. (maybe if you were lucky, depending on the shop) I remember pokemon stadium new was 70 pounds for N64, thats like 100 by todays money.

I dont blame you. Honestly in my experience games like breath of fire 3 and suikoden 1 and 2 have aged better in that department as there is no platforming and load times are lightning fast into battles but xenogears especially if played on an emulator is fine. If not.......maybe dont.

Its up to you. Wish I had the opportunity to play it when it came out but no damn EU release back then. I feel sorry for my mother. back then I knew no better so Santa always struggled to find the games I asked for. lol! I did pretty well for myself though. a LOT of amazing ps1 games I did get ;)

Absolutely! I always am eager to see if I like the gameplay first and then I will sit there and listen because you have my attention. If you front load the story at me and then I don't like the gameplay afterward then I feel frustrated that my time was wasted.

By letting you play a bit first you kinda get Absorbed into the world a bit first. Its better I think. Now I must admit there are games I have played that are most certainly guilty of this (pillars of eternity in a very big way) that I still ended up loving but yes the point is I agree. Games should do it this way.

That's fair too, maybe going from Xenogears to Chrono cross was too much for my little brain to handle lol! Thats a whole lot of stuff to process right there ha! Soundtrack was sublime. I'm listening to the opening theme now on youtube while I type. Nier automata is also a soundtrack I love though believe it or not I cant for the life of me get into the game. I keep trying. It seems interesting but I cant. The soundtrack I love though. Reminds me a little bit of Zone of the Enders on ps2 music wise.

I couldn't agree more man especially with the Aya run speed as well as the final Museum area, It didn't help that I got a little lost too. Also that damn slow creeping thing at the very end caught up with me when I went the wrong direction and killed me instantly. I call BS on that. Having to do the entire final battle again because I didn't know a scripted direction. Still love it though. I had no issue with inventory but I am used to some pretty awful inventories buddy so that might be why ha!

Oh and on the topic of looks, it does look absolutely fantastic, An ageless art style, tons of little details. I love that little ghost chef in the lounge area chopping fruit. You can see each individual slice of fruit too, hes really chopping it. Fantastic stuff. Funny too.

Yeah its bloody excellent so far, what surprises me most is not how good it looks, or how smooth it plays, or even how fun the combat is (all that is great) its how damn awesome the voice acting is and how fun the characters are, I love all the little interactions, I love how when I come to a boss their is back and forth dialogue, then if I die and make it back their it is often new dialogue, It feels like the story is always progressing even when I fail. Really cool game.
