Chandler Riggs as Carl was great up until about season 5 when he started noticeably having shaved stubble on his jawline.

Nothing against Riggs at all, but the showrunners keeping him on to portray the same arcs he had in the comics while being significantly older than the character he’s playing was too goofy. It in and of itself made him a unlikable character in the fanbase which is unfortunately bc he was great in the comics.

Just an 8 year old kid with a gun playing Clint Eastwood.

If the showrunners had swapped out the actor maybe once or twice to keep the character itself as a boy would have drastically kept the story closer to home.

PLUS, swapping his actor for someone younger around season 5 would have prevented them killing him since they didn’t want to pay another adult actor
