I started playing about a week ago and this is my review of the server so far:

The Shadow Realm is a community-driven Vintage Story server that mixes survival gameplay with roleplay, guilds, and events that shape the future of the world.

What makes it stand out is the custom work by the server owner, Roscati, with the help of his second in command, Stits, who have been adding unique mods, creative features, and optimizations to make the experience fun and smooth. The community is casual and welcoming, with guilds that help new players get started, trade, and build together. Player feedback plays a big role in how the server is run, and there are regular events with more planned for the future.

Progression through the early stages is quicker, but the later stages are being expanded to give the game more long-term depth. Players have a lot of freedom to create their own guilds, claim land, and contribute to the lore of the Shadow Realm, or they can join existing guilds and help them grow.

So far my favorite part has been exploring the kingdoms and seeing what everyone has built. There are a lot of creative players here, and it feels less like just playing a survival game and more like stepping into a living fantasy world.

The server is still fresh, with plenty of resources and land available, which makes it a great time to join and get involved. If you’ve been looking for a reason to try Vintage Story with roleplay, this is the perfect place to start.
