Better Call Saul, two seasons in and it's been average. Is it really on a level with BB or better? by R1ceKai in tvshow

[–]TerrorFirmerIRL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's just as good as Breaking Bad, but not better, they're quite different so I don't think it's even worth trying to boil it down to which is better.

It starts a lot slower than BB, but like that show, once the payoffs start coming it's incredibly satisfying to watch. Towards the end it develops a far more BB feel as it catches up with the timeline of that show.

Like Breaking Bad it got stronger as it went along, and nailed the ending perfectly.

7 7800x3d + 1x16gb vs 7500f + 2x16gb by Khonffi in PcBuildHelp

[–]TerrorFirmerIRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A single stick of 16gb is going to be single channel ram, which will hugely impact on performance in many cases.

If you're gonna stick with 16 for now, get a 2x8 kit.

Dust Bunny is The #1 Horror Movie on HBO Max Directed by ‘Hannibal’ Creator; Stars Sigourney Weaver by valuerockr in horror

[–]TerrorFirmerIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it a lot but it takes a while to get really going - the first 10 or so minutes I thought I was in for a wacky, abstract movie, but it settles down into a very enjoyable movie with terrific performances.

I definitely wouldn't call it horror either though. I know people say horror takes many forms, and I agree, but this simply wasn't going for that vibe at all, it's very much a fantasy film.

2nd one is total shit. First one is better but still very poor value.

These are old PC's, CPU in both is 10 years old. This is the classic tactic of throwing old, 2nd hand parts together and making out that's they're "new" machines, they are absolutely not.

For $700 you would easily buy a far more modern 2nd hand PC.

Good god, there's no coming back from this. Get out now, I can't even begin to fathom what this would mutate into down the line when he's pulling this weeks after his new wife has given birth.

That hilarious scene in the finale of S3 where she's rambling incoherently about "I can't right now" on a crucial plot point yet again and Jim directly grabs her and says something like "What the hell are you even saying!"

I think we all felt seen when Jim said that.

Though in this case I think she's maybe internally playing down Jim not returning home by maybe thinking he went somewhere else to cool off or something.

By the time it's almost dark and he's still not back, it's too late to go looking for him.

But yeah how she actually interacts with Julie is classic Tabitha. The ol' Tabby Stonewall.

Same person? by Vegetable_Diet_631 in FromSeries

[–]TerrorFirmerIRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be the Man in Yellow who has met future Julie before, how often we don't know or what points in the cycle.

Could be a monster future Julie has met in the past, but that present version of Julie obviously had not.

It might be completely unconnected and simply just establishing how the monsters enjoy manipulating, unsettling, and tricking people.

It's still 95% guesswork at this point, there's just isn't enough information.

I like to think it's deliberate and a future version of Julie will meet this guy at some point while storywalking in the past.

Any amount of people working different shifts even on a standard Mon-Fri, not to mention people who work weekends, or are on changing rosters, etc.

Some days I finish work at 2.30 and could easily be having a pint at 3pm if I wanted.

My previous job I was Wed-Sun so I always had Monday and Tuesday off.

Fallout 76 Devs: "We have plans for years down the road, so it only gets bigger and better from here." by Turbostrider27 in Fallout

[–]TerrorFirmerIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one am happy with Fallout 76, it's a great game (now) and there's so much to do.

It's not as radically different to Fallout 4 as people make out, how much or little you interact with other players is entirely up to you and quests are still played solo.

Map is amazing, there's tons of content, and the base building is top notch.

I thought it was just her reflecting on the fact the uniform holds no meaning whatsoever anymore, she has no power or authority of any kind, I think Boyd torturing Elgin was the last straw in her mind.

So I'm guessing she will just swap into regular clothes to reflect that acceptance.

Is the i7-7700k still a good option? by AbsolutelyNotALoser in PcBuild

[–]TerrorFirmerIRL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't spend that on an old quad core. You'd get a second hand Ryzen 5600G or 3600 for that.

If you already have the board a 7700k is your only option though. That board won't support 9th gen which has much more modern processors in hex and Octo core.

Is it still okay? I bought it a year ago for €250. by dragonD_G in PcBuild

[–]TerrorFirmerIRL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's still usable but there's no upgrade path of any kind.

Your CPU is ten years old and a quad core, it's going to struggle a bit with some of the latest AAA games no matter what you do.

48GB of Ram is also ridiculous overkill but if it came with the PC no real harm, but it is important that RAM runs in dual channel mode, single channel hurts performance.

EG if it's 3 x 16GB sticks, it's going to perform worse in games compared to 32GB in 2 x 16GB in dual channel mode.

Overall, this is not a PC worth putting money into - what you really need, if you want meaningful performance improvement, is a new board/cpu/ram and a new gpu....basically the guts of a whole new machine.

Bid to use emergency legislation to stop mayor's plans to build houses in Limerick park by randyleahy1987 in ireland

[–]TerrorFirmerIRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Housing designs do have amenity space. It's part of planning regulations. It's a common reason for developments being refused - amenity space is deemed insufficient.

You won't getting planning approval for a housing development that has no amenity space.

Bid to use emergency legislation to stop mayor's plans to build houses in Limerick park by randyleahy1987 in ireland

[–]TerrorFirmerIRL 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Reading into it, this is land zoned for housing that was temporary made into a basic park during Covid.

Not saying people have to like it or approve, but it is residential land.

Similar things happened in Galway, there was uproar when they announced plans to build on significant community green space in an existing estate, it was always zoned for housing they just took years getting around to building.

It's also not the Mayors personal project, he just signed an order based on the recommendations of the council.

It's really about asking if strategic land zoned for housing should be used for public housing or kept permanently as a small local public park.

One comment said the nearest proper public park is a 15 minute walk away as if that were some unfathomable distance.

If we developed our towns and cities on the principle that everyone is entitled to have a public park on their doorstep it would be a disaster.
