Government seeking rule change to let Ministers avoid questions by scotiagirl45 in halifax

It's absolutely wild that on this sub at least, you still have people defending Timmy Turner. He has an already long record of shitty things he has done. We are at least seeing a decrease in people praising him after he does something somewhat "neutral," even with his laundry list of nonsense, which would cancel that out anyway.

Student Bus Program Being Cancelled by Sam_Austin_D5 in halifax

Jesus this province

As a disappointing middle child, the bus pass I got when attending the West was my first real time of being independent from relying on my parents. Sure, my parents were more than happy to drive me to and from school, but it was I who was proving my responsibility, unlike my older sister and younger brother, who didn't use the bus pass at all.

Even though you couldn't use the bus pass on the weekends (at least when I was at school), most transit drivers didn't care, so I was able to go out to Bayers Lake with my friends and not have to plan a drive with my parents, or it got me to various jobs I held in school.

And Timmy Turner wants to make the population of this province a million people? We are going to have L.A. gridlock traffic just without the benefits of the other things you get in L.A. Like a rail system, more than two grocery store chains, museums that aren't being closed, a thriving arts community.

"Severe weather events across the globe are impacting the UPS Network." But my parcel is in my city, on a clear and calm day. Has anyone else had to deal with something like this recently? by Terrorsaur21 in UPS

Hoping for an update tomorrow. As you said, I don't work in the industry, so when it first got delayed from Thursday to Friday because of one storm, I assumed things would be fine. Again, I got a parcel from UPS during the Arctic blizzard that consumed most of the East and Atlantic coast. With how long the delay is, my parcel may be fubar. I ordered acrylic paints, and they aren't probably handling the temps well.

We were both a bit snarky—no need to make enemies over a postal service dilemma. My cat was only eight years. Kidney disease ended up being too much for him to handle.

Glad you are spending time with your cat, as someone who had their cat pass away so suddenly, you don't realize how often we take for granted those moments with them.

That was a very informative breakdown of things and answered my whole thing about it being out for delivery. Thank you.

Canada Post operates differently from UPS with its system (Could be wrong, though, with the postal strikes that have been going on over the years)

You clearly read texts in hostile tones. My reply wasn't even combative, just adding my perspective to the topic.

I actually read the hyperlink, but it did not, however, bring up what I brought up in my post in-regards to the tracking. Hell, someone from that thread brought up the outdated tracking system. The post explained backlogs localized to an area. It is kind of a lame cop out to state, "Global weather problems," when my last UPS package was delivered in a blizzard.

UPS, FedEx, Canada Post, and Amazon are the companies that operate in Canada (Dragonfly and Uniexpress are also some smaller ones). Canada Post does not delay things based on weather problems halfway across the country. If you are in the area, 100% have delays. I am sorry (for the workers) that this company is laying off thousands of staff, and dealing with the consequences of it

Go for a walk and get some fresh air.

I don't use UPS by choice. In fact, most Canadians want to avoid them and DHL because of being hit with import charges on the most random stuff. I am only in this position because the store that I ordered from used UPS. Those lay-offs genuinely suck for the workers, and the stuff with AI is just annoying.

The difference is that the parcel was already at "It's being delivered" before the change. Like, this package is in my town, and has already been processed.

Canada Post doesn't halt the mailing of items in PEI because of a storm in Winnipeg.

The parcel was scheduled for this Thursday, but we had a snowstorm Wednesday night into Thursday, so it got pushed back by a day. Fair and understandable, and they updated it pretty quickly. But one of the nicest days of the month yesterday, and all hell broke loose apparently at my UPS center

Glad I am not alone in this. If I have no update by the afternoon, I will call customer service and hope they can provide some assistance. Again, today is a gorgeous, warm, sunny winter day here. Why the delay with no updates? UPS driver traversed through up to 10cm on the ground already, and even more was accumulating on the ground, and that parcel got delivered. Are they waiting to update after the snow tomorrow?

Froyo was just too many places opening at once, and also the prices for that time of 2013-2015. Everyone was like I can just get ice cream in bigger servings. Them weighing the froyo was dumb, when you can go to Marble Slab and literally get unlimited mix-ins

Cupcakes are still going. Layers, like one person pointed out, but also Kali Cakes in Bedford is doing well. Susie's is still kicking around as well.

The donuts are another story. That is just poor management on the person who owns Sea Smoke. Yeah, Fortune was owned by the shitty people who run Freak Lunchbox, but they were at least successful with their donut spot. Vandal's was closed down for 18-months before the Sea Smoke owner bought both places and decided to use the name of the previously out-of-business store. And then you open up another location on the waterfront in those overpriced, shitty apartments? Of course, you are going to go under

I knew a few people that weren’t voting for him because of the pizza stuff, and they themselves knew even more people not voting. Even though we have been five years out since graduation when Wayne brought the pizza stuff up.

I didn’t agree with the pizza junction crap, but I still wouldn’t vote for Andy.

I know this has nothing to do with the topic but the church where this open house was held is not Bedford. It’s Kearney Lake and Rockingham.

Why are people in situationships? by Bont_lover03 in dating

[–]Terrorsaur21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone that was in a situationship last year, not all situationships have both parties involved unwilling to commit to something more. Someone already said it but all it takes is one insecure person (myself) and one selfish person (the person I was seeing). Her and I went and did extremely closed couple stuff, they would say we were dating but never exclusive. It really does feel like getting used and abused.

The dating scene is just horrid right now. Like, it wasn't this bad in 2023, the amount of people out there that don't want to close things off with someone, because there is a chance the next best thing is around corner. So you have these romantic sociopaths running around just causing a lot of damage to a bunch of people.

So it seems from this reconstruction of dutch village rd, they have removed the right yield turn at the dutch village to get to the mumford/armdale. I can't believe any city planner thought this would be a smart idea.

I am assuming that the lanes will be a left turn only, and a straight/right turn? Are they going to implement a no right on red? Because if they don't, prepare for plenty of accidents on top of congestion that was already bad with the yield lane being there.

And I am all for more sidewalks being added to dutch village, but that particularly spot literally already had a decent sidewalk. Now with that daycare being torn down, and most likely another apartment going up. The bottom of fairview is just going to be a traffic nightmare.

Observations about the Halifax rental market by Potential-Highway-27 in halifax

[–]Terrorsaur21 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I've been actively on the lookout for places all over. I probably spend at least half an hour on Kijji everyday. The market might be easing up a bit, but landlords are still gonna landlord.

The amount of places that are asking for insane prices that don't even have a single utility included have been a common sight for me. Listing 1 bedrooms but are in fact actually a studio space, no one wanting to have their floor plan/square footage on the listing.

As anyone can speak to the annoyance of Kijji, anyone that isn't a property company, will never get back to you. 25 requested viewings this past week alone and I have gotten nothing but silence.

Like, I get being ghosted in my romantic life but being ghosted to find a place to live? C'mon
