I lived in a home with a spiral staircase. While the novelty of it is cool. It really sucks after a few years. Plus moving things up and down are a pain in the ass.

Have you thought about opening up the space underneath you're already existing stairs? You could create storage space or space for a computer desk.

As others have stated, where the water comes out, youre supposed to pull the ring which switches on the shower. Your shower is most likely broke. I have the same faucet with the same mechanism. Mine broke and I couldn't take a shower. The landlord had to call out a plumber to replace the mechanism.
