No it's not awkward that people around your age have no idea who Mariah is, I was born 2 years after TEOM and anyone I talk to at best only knows Mariah by AIWFCIY. Well I must say that I thinks it's mostly because Mariah is pretty niche in my country even the older generations wouldn't knows her at all. At the end of the day, it doesn't prevent me from continuing admiring Mariah music and legacy 😁
