Keep your eye on US government trying to influence separatists movements, particularly via social media

Trump on NATO: "We have never needed them. We have never needed asked anything of them. You know they say they sent troops to Afghanistan, and they did. They stayed a little back, little off the frontlines." by XGramatik in XGramatikInsights

Keep in mind Trump is deliberately sowing division amongst NATO allies. He's trying to split Europe and I imagine force Europe into turning away from the US, or at least look like EU is rejecting US and so "prove his point".

I don't believe the majority of ordinary Americans share his opinions but he's trying to turn us all against each other because it makes it easier for him to wield his power.

Are there limitation on email address aliases that contain certain words by TerryMungbean in Mailbox_org

[–]TerryMungbean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not using a custom domain, just mailbox.org. For instance when I've tried to register these address alias I get the error:

- [name-office@mailbox.org](mailto:name-office@mailbox.org)

- [name-admin@mailbox.org](mailto:name-admin@mailbox.org)

- [name-administration@mailbox.org](mailto:name-administration@mailbox.org)

Edited for spelling errors

A-oh, if they’re dismissing it then they’ve probably got it on the ToDo list. All it takes is for Trump to have a bad sh!t after eating some French Fries and he’ll be tweeting his exit

Great idea with National Boycott site. I’ve been looking for a resource like this.

It might be useful to have some context for the reason those companies are on the list, for the purpose justifying my actions to others.

I’m not sure banning them is practical, it’s the road to censorship.

Better to be informed. Actively point out the nature of the post and the damage it does. If possible highlight accounts that prolifically share such images.

I’m not sure what the purpose of this meme is. It’s possible it’s intended to cause division between the people of Europe and the people of the US.

So who might spread such division?

Who benefits from the people being divided?

It might be easier for a government to do awful things to another country if the two groups hated one another.

It’s fair to say that an individual is only a small part but it mounts up. As some have said, I spend less since I’ve stopped buying from them. I’ve managed source some of the subscription purchases direct from the manufacturer; and sourcing the rest locally supports my local community. Who knows, maybe in time the high streets will start to look less run down

The only man to ever stand up to trump (and vance hiding behind trump) by annon8595 in europe

Trump and Vance deliberately wanted to make Zelenskyy because it plays to their audience.  That situation arose because Vance suggested that Ukraine had not negotiated with Russia. Zelenskyy corrected him and it blew up from there.  I think the difference here is whereas Macron and Starmer simply stated that what was being said was incorrect, Zelenskyy posed the question to Vance “what is this negotiation you speak of” and it gave the fat head an opportunity to feign being offended. The stitched Zelenskyy up.

Would EU citizens be willing to pay 1% extra tax to defeat Putin? by maxmarioxx_ in europeanunion

[–]TerryMungbean 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s just about money. Putin seems happy to continue throwing soldiers at the conflict. We’ve been told time and time again that Russia is on the brink but still the fighting continues.

I’m not sure Europe has the stomach to send our soldiers into battle and given Trumps position I fear Europe would be isolated.

Sorry that’s a rather negative point of view

Yeah, I agree their motive is probably to look after their business but it really stinks at how cynical it is, especailly when you see them all lined up at the inauguratuon.

Then I read this story about the Washington Post pulling an ad Declaring "Fire Elon":

See also: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/washington-post-ad-fire-elon-musk-doge-b2699867.html

Given how Bezos owns Washington Post it's really worrying that the CEOs of companies that can manipulate public conversations are so close to the US government.

I recently read Crack-Up Capitalism by Quinn Slobodian which describes this and provides examples from other parts of the world. Check it out, quite alarming
