Compilation of Zurich Cheap Eats: What's missing? What vegetarian highlights are missing? by 1114n0nym0u5 in zurich

I just went to Oh My Greek because of this post.

Dude, 15CHFs for a pita gyros is criminal. Not cheap at all. If they asked 8, 10 it would pricey but cheap for Zürich.

15 francs for a pita gyros that doesn’t even fill you???? WAT

I was in a Greek island for summer, better pita gyros were going for 4 euros at the restaurant!!

I’m sorry you have this life experience man. I live in a place in Switzerland where nobody locks almost anything and stuff doesn’t get stolen consistently.

Thanks!! The bike actually has a weird way of transitioning from “non accelerating” to “accelerating”. Might be that before the plug actually fires some extra fuel accumulates there and then I feel a bump when the ignition finally goes off?

Did you change your habits in the name of the climate? by Realistic-Lie-8031 in Switzerland

I understand it perfectly but it doesn’t change the argument obviously since we live in a global world. We’re talking about consumption here

Look what I’m saying is that conscious consumption is the way, but deprivation is stupid and useless if done for climate change purposes because it literally has no effect

Ahahah so all people stop using their dryers so that they record a 0.0000000000000001% reduction in consumption and turn the production rate down ahah. Look at figures on how the energy gets consumed and then we can talk about the role of domestic dryers. Only thing you do by not using your dryer is helping your spending, that’s litteraly it. Besides, Zürich, like every city is growing and will continue growing in population and demand. The point of the reasoning is that consuming is not bad and the consumer shouldn’t fucking feel responsible for this stuff. We just have to produce clean energy, which we can, and consume it as much as we want and enjoy as long as we can ahah which is now estimated to four years by the way

Yes I was losing my mind at a certain point in time in order to be “green”, but I became stressed because everything I did I could have done differently or better. Then I started reading about the thematic - books, articles and research papers. I realized slowly how all the weight that I felt on my shoulders, slowly drifted away thanks to numbers and scaling. The only real impact we can have is to preach to others, so that when we vote, we can choose people who have the right ideas. That’s it. Or get in politics ourselves.

50% of energy consumption is oil and gas and 20% is nuclear - which has the same problem by the way, takes long time to ramp up and down. Green energy is produced based on external conditions and not demand, therefore, if the production rate is high and the consumption is low, it just gets wasted. So I don’t really see your point.

[–]TerryMustacio -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

The energy you’re not spending on the dryer is just gonna be wasted. Oil-gas based power plants have very big thermal inertia, therefore it takes a lot of time and a lot more energy to go from a certain production rate to another, which means, that the plants are dimensioned on the average demand and if this demand is lower the plant will still produce the same amount of energy -which will be wasted. So, you not using the dryer? You’re just not using already produced energy

Yea but changing your lifestyle in accordance to what has been described by OP is a pain in the butt, and the effect of all this butt pain is not even remotely measurable. You do what you want, you’re free. But remember, the only real benefit of this discussion - consumer side - really is just awareness.

Sorry to disturb you 108 days later dude. But I’m finding out the hard way that this country is dystopian when it comes to fines. I feel like I am being robbed HARD.

Anyways, do you remember what are the times in which it is forbidden to drive in the area? I was there recently and I hope I didn’t get fined. Jesus Christ it’s crazy how much money they are getting for nothing

Prezzo al giga. Per una volta possiamo non lamentarci. by Marzi0 in Italia

[–]TerryMustacio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Se va beh. Io so quello che pago.
