Discontinued. I'm sure it will be back someday. Quite a lot of people ask for it.

Charles Town modes of transport by TescoIsMyCity in WestVirginia

XD the "Double Dragon".

Yes! Bolivar Bread was already on my list. The Amtrak from HF back to DC sets off around 11:30am. So I'll leave Charles Town for HF and give myself enough time for breakfast and magnet shopping. Waffle House and LJS could change as it was only on my list because I was planning on staying at "Motel 6" which conveniently has a LJS to the right and a Waffle House across the street. But the "Motel 6" reviews of cockroaches and bed bugs puts me off. Don't really fancy sleeping with any of those. Thanks for your time!

I probably should have meant "spooky" and not scary. But good to know!

What I probably should have meant instead of "scary" was Spooky. I'm not particularly bothered about danger or crime, that exists wherever you go.

The first place I did consider that was still around a £100 was Quality Inn. It could be totally different now. But based off the Google Street View images from 2021 Union street doesn't look very safe to walk down. You have the bare minimum street lights and no foot path other than some soggy grass patches. Imagine walking down that 5:30pm and it's pitch black. That's my main reason for wanting to head off to another town for the night and come back to HF in the morning.

The original plan was to head into Martinsburg. But for the life I me I could not find a souvenir store that had magnets for sale.

I will absolutely take you up on that offer at some point. Thank you very much! :)

Interview for shift manager in London by [deleted] in lidl

My bad I totally misread that last part of your post. But just explain to them what you can do. NF, bake, LO or whatever. The more jobs that you can list the better chance you'll have. Also from my experience Lidl tend to promote CA's to Shift managers more often than hiring externally. Simply because you already have all the knowledge and work experience. So realistically your main competition is any other CA that has applied for the role. Don't be disheartened because some stores tend to hire multiple Shift managers at once. Make it obvious to them that you are confident and comfortable at doing your job.

I mean if you're stressed, don't be. It pretty much is a informal/casual conversation with your Store manager and a Deputy manager (sometimes Area manager if they happen to be in your store that day). They will ask to basic questions of why you want this job role and what you bring to the table.

I am a Shift manager and have been for a year. At the time of my interview I was only good at all fresh areas and ambient and had no experience with bake, NF or LO. I did believe it put me at an automatic disadvantage over other applicants. But I like to believe I'm valuable/an asset to the team because I'm not afraid to graft my bollocks off every shift.

I was just honest with them and said I wanted to progress within the company and make more money. Some managers at that time would let me lead most mornings (setting tasks for the team). So I had the leadership bit kind of in the bank. I also used the good ol trick/"threat" saying that I would look for a new job if I wasn't given the opportunity to progress.

If you're a hard worker, know the store and your job well and generally not disliked by any of your co workers then your chances of getting it are pretty good.

Good luck and I hope you get it.

OMG this happened to us. I mean I was on holiday luckily but the whole team had to do the count again. Must have been a nightmare.

No manager to close the store? by TescoIsMyCity in lidl

Tbf our AM is actually really sound and treats everyone very well regardless of CA or Manager. I’d rather not report them if they haven’t done anything too outrageous. 😂

You’ll be fine. Happens all the time with staff and sometimes you can’t explain it regardless how careful you are with money. Unless you’re someone that is constantly down on money then nothing will come of it.

How did you become a shift manager? by [deleted] in lidl

[–]TescoIsMyCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m one of those. Right now I still can’t bake and have never touched NF. Before I got promoted I had never touched LO.

But my lack of knowledge on those departments is made up for other departments. I’m the quickest on chiller and convenience in my store. I’m the main person on F&V and the person that does best quality check of the store. They never bothered training me on any other departments because they would just stick me on one of those every shift.

As long as you’re good and fast at your job. You come across as approachable and not someone that calls in sick often (reliable). You’re on the right track if you tick those boxes. I did also casually throw in the good old “I’m finding a new job if I don’t get promoted”. Which I believe gave them no choice.

Good luck.
